I didn't go to church when I was growing up and I'm still not religious. My mom converted/became a Christian a few years ago and can be a bit pushy about it so we try to avoid the topic.
I'm happy she is happy but I don't like how everything bad is because I'm not religious. According to her, my milk came in late because I did not pray, etc.
I never asked her (I prob should) why or how she decided to convert. Did you start going to church as an adult? I'm so curious!

i grew up without religion in my life, DH grew up in the catholic church but started going to UU church a couple years ago. i've considered going with him, but i still do not believe in a 'god'. i would consider going more for the community/reflective aspects of church rather than the religious.
you are a stronger woman than i am, i probably would have slapped anyone that told me my milk didn't come in because i didn't pray

I am a Christian and for some reason I take it personally when people who share my faith say things that are condescending to other people. I try sooo hard not to be pushy with other people about what I believe, but instead just be a person who has stronger character and integrity that hopefully speaks for itself
So I grew up going to church with my family. I maintained going to church and really made my faith my own once I moved out at 19

@autumnlove I can totally relate! I'm not religous either. We had some trouble TTC and I had a very religious "friend" tell me that it was because we didn't have "faith in Jesus" that we could not get pregnant. That person is no longer in my life for other reasons.

I've always gone to church and consider it to be a big part of my life but I would never, ever tell someone their milk didn't come in because they didn't pray. I'm so sorry your mom said that to you. It's sad when people say things like that because it gives "religion" a bad reputation.

I grew up in a Southern Baptist church. It's actually where DH & I met. We've gotten in a bad habit of not going to church since moving away from our hometown but are hoping to find a new "home" church soon.

I grew up a reform Jew. Ive been pretty consistent with it. Its a good mixture of culture, tradition, and religion. We don't make it to temple every Friday night, but I do love going and I don't think that not going makes me a bad Jew.

I grew up going to a Catholic school, but I really never practiced or went to church myself. When I met DH he's a Christian and he encouraged me to come to church with him and his family on Sundays. I did and have been ever since we started dating. We go to an Evangelical Free church, I love it there.

I was born and raised in the Christian Church (My parents were pastors). I went to a Christian university as well! My DH, on the other hand, didn't go to church until we started dating (he was 26). He now is a self-proclaimed 'Jesus Guy.'
And I have to say although I am a Christian, I do not agree with your mom. I am sorry she said that! Like @cocobee said, I try not to be overly assertive with my beliefs. I just try to love everyone and walk the talk.

I was born LDS and still attend weekly, DH is the same, was raised in the church.
On the other hand, I can't stand the pushy religious people. You're not getting pregnant because you dont believe in Jesus?! Srsly?! Reeeeediculous.

@autumnlove: Yes, I did start as an adult. It was the best decision I've ever made and have had so much clarity every since. I had gone a few times as a kid but we didn't have opportunities to discuss our faith outside of 'attending' church. I've read full texts and went to various denomination services while searching in college, and it was not a blind choice. It happens to people differently though. I compare my experience to being in a SLOW cOoker. It took me awhile and many different ingredients influenced where I am today but all that time marinating, made my faith in Jesus, rich and tasty. Asking questions and going along with someone to church to explore is the BEST! Direct praying helps a lot too.

I was raised in several different Protestant churches as a kid, but I never took religion seriously until I converted to Catholicism as an adult. I always thought I wasn't very religious; turns out I just had to find the right relighion for me!

DH and I are both Catholic. He was born and raised in the faith. I was baptized around middle school and began attending church after that. I don't think I was ever required to go (some in the family/household did, some didn't), so I went because I wanted to. We now go every week and were married in the Church.
I also don't like when people are too pushy. That milk comment was SO rude! It also isn't necessarily true- even if you *did* pray every day, there are people who do and who still don't make enough milk. It's not a magical-wish-giving formula.

I started RCIA during the wedding planning to understand DH's beliefs. I didn't commit to converting until we had been married nearly six months. I had to make the decision for myself, I was adamant that no one was going to pressure me.
