I have my six-week check-up with my OB later this week. I often saw mamas in the waiting room with newborns along, so I kind of assumed that was standard. Maybe the OB likes to meet the babies she delivered? Now I'm wondering, though - is it preferable that I go alone?

Yep, both times. No big deal, they basically slept the entire time. Much easier than the couple times I had to bring my toddler along to OB visits!

Yes, I took her with me and she slept the whole time. I made sure my appointment was on a day when LO 1 & 2 had preschool.

Yes, took baby and DH. They like and expect the baby (at my OB). I think newborns and moms are kind of a package deal at that point.

I had two PP visits (c-section). The first (2 weeks Pp) I went to with DH and LO because I wasn't cleared to drive yet and I was nursing on demand. The second I took DS by myself because DH was back at work.

Mine is next week. My husband will be back at work, so if he's scheduled that day I'll have to take the baby. Otherwise, I would leave him at home. He's very fussy and can be unpredictable in public. We kind of need two adults to tend to him in public right now.

Yes, but my OB insisted I bring them in so she could hold them! I'm also FB friends with my OB (she asked upon her retirement, to keep in touch) but she's just got that bubbly personality! She took my LO right out of the car seat and took her out to the nurses to get their baby fix!

I took them in both times. With E I saw a midwife who did not have delivery privileges at my hospital, so we wanted her to meet him (D was with me). With G my mom drove me to the appointment and waited in the car, but I took the baby in.

My ILs were in town so they kept her while I went solo. My midwife was definitely surprised to see that I was alone, though.

I took my son to mine. My OB is not touchy feely at all, and she told me she loves when the babies come in so she can see them on the outside.

I hadn't started pumping yet so he had to come with me. My doctor was running behind and he was so hungry by the time it was our turn that he screamed through my whole exam. No one minded though. They are used to crying babies.

I made DH come with me and baby to my 2 week appt last time- he waited in the waiting room with her but the midwife went out to meet her after. For my 6 week I think I brought the baby alone. She was nursing all the time so it would have been too much trouble to go without her.
This time I'm hoping DH can stay home with the toddler and I will bring the baby. Same deal with nursing all the time. My toddler came to almost every prenatal appt.

Yes! It was fun for the midwives to see her after some time had passed, and was good practice for me about getting out with a newborn!

I took baby with me to my 2 and 6 week scheduled appts, and also to my unexpected 1 week drop-in, where I was convinced that I had ripped my stitches (I had ripped just the outer "cosmetic" stitch, which apparently was "fine"). DH came with me to the 1 week appointment to support me because I was so freaked out, and overwhelmed at getting LO out of the house and on-time for the first time. He met me at my doctor's office. The rest of the time it was just the two of us. My OB was so happy to see LO each and every time, and got lots of baby snuggles in (she does what she does bc she loves babies!).

My two week appointment was scheduled at the same time as the baby's. I was alone for my part of the appointment because my husband was also there.

DH and baby came to my 1-week visit to the OB bc of mastitis. DH took the afternoon off work for my 6-week PP appointment (and for my Mirena insertion at 8 weeks PP) so I could go solo.

I took LO to my 2 week check up, and for the 6 week appt I brought him and my mom came to watch him while I was examined. I nursed him twice in the office that time!

Yep, MW asked us too, she wanted to see her!!!

Nope, just me. I was afraid he would start crying during the exam.

I took her with me because I didn't want to leave the newborn and toddler with my mom, big mistake since she cried throughout my appointment so my doc had to postpone my pelvic exam and pap smear.

Yep. No one to watch him. He did good. He was about 7 weeks old and awake the whole time (most alert newborn of life!) but he did well

No, she stayed home with DH. It was the first time I think I was alone without her or anyone else and it was a nice little break!

I'm not there yet(still pregnant) but this thread made me realize I don't think I've ever seen a newborn in my o.b's office! At least not since I've been pregnant. Weird!

@Mrs. Champagne: haha! I had this newborn too. Everyone told me he would sleep through everything but noooo. He did ok at drs appointments though.

Yup. My nurses and doctor would have been sad if they didn't get to see him!

No, but the OB I saw for LO #1 was an hour away from my house. I probably will for LO #2 since it's right down the road

No, but I'm sure it would have been okay. It was just a quick check and BC discussion. It was nice to get a break since I couldn't drive until my first postpartum appointment (c/s).

I took B with me. I could have left him with my mom or mil but it was easier to just bring him. My doctor and the nurses enjoyed seeing him. Thankfully he slept most of the time!

yep, my OB likes to see the babes and the receptionists always like a cuddle.

@gilmoregirl: haha! All my friends babies just sleep in my arms and I'm like is this real?! Mine never did! He was super happy but just always awake!

@lady baltimore: I wondered exactly the same thing bc I saw the babies at my OB during all my pregnancy appointments! Haha! I thought the OB must want to meet the babies! No. I think it's just that the mamas were on maternity leave alone and had to bring their LOs. I think its fine either way. I went alone!

LO1 - nope. she was so colic and I was too anxious. My OB was disappointed not to see her but whatever - she stayed at home with dad.
LO2 - yes. we had moved so it was a long ride and I was BFing so I just took him with me to make things easier.
I think either way is totally fine!

My second I did and he slept the entire time.

My mom watched LO1 but I took LO2 to the appointment with me. She was anxious about watching them both and I was happy to take the baby with me--he was a very good baby and just hung out in his carseat the whole time. My OB was so excited to see the baby! It was very sweet.

No - DH kept her. But she came with me to an appointment to deal with a severe yeast infection a couple weeks later and it was no big deal.

I didn't. Our inlaws were visiting from out of town and I thought it would be good grandma bonding time, but I think my OB was disappointed! If I had it to do over I would bring him.

LO1: No, she had been up all night so I left her home with DH (a SAHD). The midwife at my then-OB'a office was concerned because I was supposed to be breastfeeding her but I had pretty much given up on her latching and had started EPing.
LO2: Yes, because DH was in the bathroom with LO1 when my name was called (we were all there together because we were running errands afterwards). She slept the whole time in the car seat and didn't make a peep. The midwife at my current OB's office checked twice to make sure she was in there and still breathing!
