We went to a demo music class today and while it was cute, I don't know that he was engaged enough to justify the cost. Did you find classes to be worth it or should I wait until he's older?

So far, just swim classes. I think it's been helpful in that she seems really comfortable in the water. I haven't done any gym or music classes yet.

We are going to s class that is more for the moms than babies, where all the babies are within a month of each other. I'm looking forward to it!

We started going to the library story time around 4.5 months - that includes a monthly music class.

Just a bf support group. No classes.
@Foodnerd81: we've been doing something like that. M is 11 months but a lot of the babies have been in the group since they were newborns. It was more for the moms in the early months but now the babies are old enough to get something out of it and the moms are good friends.
I would say that anything you enjoy is worth it even if the baby is too young to participate. Moms need all the fun and chances to meet other moms we can get!

Music starting at 4 months. He was young but liked it and it was a special treat during my last 6 wks of maternity leave.

We went to a couple of different free library story times that all had songs, rhymes, sign language, etc, in addition to stories in the first 6 months. I'm good friends now with several of the moms from those story times, and our kids are turning 2. I took LO to a free gymboree class and a free little gym class before she was mobile, and honestly, I think we both got just as much out of the free story times at that age as we did the expensive classes.

I would go to free classes at libraries or local bookstores. I don't think it's worth the money before 6 months

I wanted to do mommy-baby yoga classes, but I never got around to it. Those classes really would have been more for me than for the baby, but it was nice that there were classes where I could take the baby with me.

I did but looking back on those days, the classes then were more for me. I felt like my lo didnt enjoy classes until at least 10 months.

YUp we started music at 3 months--which he really liked, and we did a mommy & me type class also at 3 months--also fun for both of us! I'm also a SAHM so it was nice to get out of the house and meet other moms

Baby yoga starting at 3 months. She loved it. We start again in a couple weeks. We have also gone to a story time and playgroup geared toward pre crawlers. Oh, and a play/moms group at the waldorf school which starts next week.
I have to get out of the house or I go crazy

We didn't start going to library storytime until 7-8 months but if I'd known what it was like I probably would've started at around 5 or 6 months! Most of the other classes that we've been to have all been more "worth it" past 6 months at least.

Thanks! We already do a moms' group and I just found a free music class at a library in a neighboring town. I think we'll try that. I'd like to do the music class more for me to get out but I'm having a hard time with the $500+ tuition for an infant.

I think the classes for young ones are definitely more for mom than baby. we did music classes and we both enjoyed them a lot. They are great for helping me be more musical with C at home too - the songs get in your head

I think it's worth it to search out a free library story time than waste the money on Gymboree. The music classes seem ok but the gym classes are ridiculous- they're completely geared towards crawlers and walkers. They would be great for an older child who is mobile but I think (from going to a free trial and talking to other moms) that those gym type classes aren't good for younger babies.

I reallly want to, but the classes are all so stupidly expensive around here and the only baby swim class is 40mins away
I need to look into the library to see if there's anything for babies here! Great idea, ladies

We did swim classes from about 2 months old. They were free for the first 6 months though. We kept with them and have never had problems with baths, plus he's quite the little swimmer now!

We started music class at 3.5 months and it's so fun for both of us
And totally agree it's awesome getting out of the house and introducing DS to new experiences.

We did a trial class at a Gymboree type place last week at 6 weeks. She was obviously too young for the curriculum since she can't even hold her head up. Membership there are $60/month which I think is fairly crazy considering there's only one class a week we're even allowed to attend and it's pretty much consists of me holding her and watching other people do stuff and then singing maybe 2 songs to her with the group.
But they're putting the 6 week to 6 month old class on for free until nov without having to buy the membership so we might go again more for me to meet other moms than for her.

No, but I wish we did because they look fun!

We started story time about a month ago and since she loved it so much I signed us up for a music class. Yesterday was her first day and she LOVED it! I had fun meeting a new group of mamas and looking at other precious babies. She's currently 4.5 months. I think I'll be signing up for swim classes at 6 months.
