I had an epidural so while I could still feel the contractions I could still talk a bit in between them. I was really curious about what color hair she'd have bc it could have been anything and I had a feeling she was going to be born a red head like I was (she wasn't). So that's what we talked about while I pushed and when they did see her hair teased me that it was dark brown like my husbands. Then once she was born and looked just like him I got teased more for not contributing any genes.

I asked who turned the TV to that channel and why are we watching 'Billy the Exterminator' rid a house of bats?! I'll never forget that silly detail about my labour.

We had a conversation about my OB delivering a gorilla baby that was sunny side up. Turns out that's how gorilla babies are supposed to be, but she didn't know that and turned the baby. It was a pretty funny conversation and it tickles me to no end to this day!

@Maysprout: The mother was having trouble so they called her in to the zoo to help. Pretty funny, huh?! (I guess veterinarians don't deliver too many primates, so it made sense).

I was so focused on pushing that I tuned everybody out. Later I told DH that I was ignoring everybody because I couldn't tell who they were talking too and he told me that they were talking to me. Oops. Hey, it must have worked, we had less than 40 minutes of pushing.

Between the 2nd to last contraction and the last contraction was about 5 minutes, so I was just lying there in the position, waiting... I think everyone made at least one comment about this last one taking its time!

I had the morning news on in the background when I was pushing. I kept looking at the time and saying that I need to call my boss to let him know that I'm in labor. I didn't call him until the afternoon.
During the pushing, we really didn't talk about much because they thought that they might need a bigger team of doctors in the room. We didn't. When I could practically feel him almost out, they stopped me, prepped the table, switched doctors as it was a shift change, and then he was born with the attending doctor delivering him.

I kept saying I wanted to quit. I asked my ob to push her back up "in there" so I could take a break and walk around for a bit

No. I just kept trying to get that baby out. I apologized for taking too long one time and mostly just concentrated on what needed to get done.

No, I was very quiet!

Not really.
I said I felt like I needed to push and then a few minutes later told them "I feel the head somebody hold my leg". Otherwise I was busy concentrating through contractions & felt pretty out of it from those transition hormones.

Haha in the beginning we had conversations with the dr about baking, phone covers and the Kardashians. After an hour and a half I told her to just pull her out, I was getting mad

My husband and the nurse talked to each other about her kids and how she chose their names. I laid and rested in between each push...and wondered why no one turned the TV off and how weird it was that I was delivering a baby during American Pie 2. As she was crowning, I did ask the doctor if I could close my legs for a bit to rest. She laughed.

My OB was amazing and he kept giving me instructions. I was too busy trying to do exactly what he said to think about anything else.

I was pretty much silent during the later part of my labor (when my epidural wore off) through to pushing. It took all of my concentration to stay focused and on top of the pain. Pushing brought no relief either, so I was focusing completely on my body and pushing correctly to try to get him out.

I remember I kept saying I didn't want to do it anymore. The nurse during my first round of pushing told me I couldn't stay pregnant forever. I told her that I could if I wanted to.
I liked the nurse that came in for the second round much better and she was able to talk me through it so I decided I wanted to go ahead and get it over with.

It only took two pushes to get her out, so I didn't have time to really talk.

Yes -- but only in between obviously.... I was pushing for 5 hours though, definitely spoke more in the beginning... We listened to Pamdora for a little while too. Talked a lot with the nurse about how long pushing can take. Needless to say, we took the longest.
