I told family and close friends once we had decided. I think my dad posted something on Facebook about it and then everyone knew, haha... leave it to grandpa...

We do tell, however it's not posted on FB or anything like that. So pretty much close family and friends know but that is it! We did this because so many people close to us are pregnant and having girls, we wanted them to be aware of the name we were using...kind of staking our claim (I know people don't agree with this but we did it!)

We're about 97% decided and so far are sticking to we like blank, blank and blank publicly.

We've decided but will keep it a secret until we tell her what her name is.

We discussed some possibilities with family but since we're still not 100% decided, that's it. We'll make the final decision at the hospital and announce then.

We share the name we picked out, but we might change it depending on how she looks when she comes out...

We won't tell, not even family, but I don't think the family will ask. (We're also planning to find out gender, but not tell that either. That, they'll ask!)

If they asked we told but if they didn't we didn't go broadcasting either.

We won't be deciding until we are in the hospital. We don't know the gender and will probably go to the hospital with two or three names for each gender and decide when we meet the little nugget.

We don't tell people because we don't really want their opinions. once the baby is here and has a name it is pretty hard for people to tell you they don't like it:)

I wanted to keep it a secret but then ended up telling everybody. Nobody has said anything negative, but it's a pretty benign name. The most kerfuffle it got was that I work with a guy with the same name so we all had a big laugh about that this morning. My biggest concern was I didn't want to get a bunch of monogrammed stuff for the baby. But DH already told his whole family the name and I think that's the demographic most likely to go the monogrammed route. Oh well.

We told our siblings and a couple close friends. No parents, grandparents or anyone from a different generation because they have associations with names that aren't very current (like what's a nerdy name, or tv show characters from the 70's with that name).

Plus our boy name both times was one my Mom hates...but she'd have to like it if it was attached to a baby!

We told our close family the name since her first and middle name is in honor of our maternal grandmothers- we figure no one can say anything bad about it that way! I haven't used the name on facebook and I haven't told people outside the immediate family though, that way there can still be some surprise!

@CVBEE, I could not agree more. And I wish I had really understood that before we decided to share the name we have chosen for LO, due in 4 weeks. My mother has been extremely negative about our choice and it is really making me question my decision. I wish I had kept it to myself!

We were Team Green both times, so we told people our choices. Since we didn't really know the name until the baby was born, I think it worked out.

We told people when they asked but I think we will limit it to close family next time. We received mostly good reactions but some jerks sprinkled "Really? Why? That's such a boring name!" over our decision. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all!

We were mostly set on a boy name, and had a short list with a favorite for girls, and we kept them all secret. Whenever anyone asked about names we would say we were thinking about "insert name of person who's asking here" (so if my stepmom Connie asked, I'd say "well, we're thinking Connie if it's a girl and Jon (my dad) if it's a boy". I'm sure we frustrated them, but they usually shut up (until the next time they asked, anyway).
