I didn't really see these too often until after I had ds. I've been thinking about getting one for DD but just looked at a few and they are 50 bucks. What kind did you use and was it worth it to have?

I just used an A+A blanket. For the car seat canopies, I know that if you shop at Motherhood for stuff you'll get a code for a "free" one where you pay about $18 for S&H.

@matador84: I didn't use one (just used an A&A blanket), but DD was born in March, so there wasn't too much need.
Afterwards, everyone I saw had the Carseat Canopy they got for Free with just paying the shipping and handling fee. I think
~$10? I've seen them in person - really nice quality. And if we still took her out in the carseat this winter, I'd totally get one. But she's in the stroller seat usually now.
Maybe someone can find you a code? I think they're always in the back pages of certain magazines!

@matador84: Yes we use a car seat canopy. LO was born in May and it helped cover her from the sun rays and bright lights. It was a gift from her godmother and she ordered it on Etsy.

I used one but I got it as a gift. I wouldn't spend $50 on it. It's just a blanket with some straps.

No, my little one was born in August, but I just throw a A&A blanket over like others have said.

I just used an AA blanket too.
If you really want one, just buy a yard each of inner and outer fabric you like and sew them together. You just attach ribbon at the center to tie around the handle. It's a super easy project!

We had a car seat canopy and it says it's $50, but there is a coupon code out there where you can get it for free + shipping. I would Google for the code because it ends up being about $12. We loved ours.

I also have just been using an A&A blanket. I can see how they'd be nice in winter. The health unit here doesn't recommend them, or at least don't want us to put in the minky interior part.
