I used OPKs (wondfos 2x a day then confirmed with the digital CBE smilies when the lines seemed to match in darkness) and temped with a BBT thermometer. Didn't really track CM. I was meticulous about POAS and tracking my temps to really pinpoint ovulation and made sure we covered our bases with the BD (4X that cycle) and luckily, we got pregnant on our first cycle. I liked that OPKs (along with temping) took the guess work out of ovulation / TTC.

Yes, and we got pregnant on our second cycle. I'm a planner and we really needed to time our pregnancy carefully, so we just started using OPK's right away. It worked for us!

I didn't use it my first cycle but it hasn't work thus far in the cycles we did use them.

@dc yoga bee: We also don't DTD that frequently so SMEP for us would have been too demanding. But I think SMEP when followed to the tee guarantees that your bases are covered for your fertile days.

I didn't tell DH all the details. He knew I was looking at stuff, checking stuff and jotting stuff down here and there but he just zoned it out and I didn't bother to really fill him in either (think it's better that way). On my fertile days I just said "Okay, we have to do it now!" and at first it was a little funny and awkward but got over it quickly. I think it's less demanding than every other day / everyday..

Seems everyone who responded so far really had good outcomes too! If you have a fairly regular / normal cycle, I think you'll be just fine! Good luck, it's an exciting time!

I've used it since the first month, and I'm on my 4th month. I like using them in addition to charting because I like knowing when O is about to happen, and then confirming it with temps.

I started using them the month before we started TTC because I wanted to see if I was ovulating and know the timing and all that jazz. I've used them every month and we have had 6 months without success. That being said, I think if it was taking this long and I hadn't been using them then I would feel like I could have done more. I guess it depends on your personal ttc philosophy. My DH knows I use them, but I don't share all the details with him.

We started using them month 3, but checking CM/CP has always been effective for me (and I'm super regular). Still TTC after 1.5 years and 2 m/cs...

Yup! I didn't stress about it, but I never really had good luck tracking CM and DH worked crazy hours so I needed to know when to BD. I think it took us 3 months?

We did not do opks but I did chart and found it really helpful to get timing accurate. I got KU on the third cycle trying with LO#1 and first cycle with my current pregnancy.

Yes we used them our first and only month of TTC. I watched for ovulation signs (mostly CM, cramping) and took an OPK when I noticed EWCM. The first OPK I ever took was positive. I got a positive HPT 9 days later!!!!

No but I was temping/charting so I knew when to DTD.

I couldn't vote- my answer is 'no and it took us a while', as in I wish I had!

I like them. Cheapos and the smiling ones! It's also nice to see something show up as positive in this process.

With my second pregnancy, no. I was charting and timing DTD with EWCM (took 3 cycles).

This third time, its our first month TTC and I figured I would just chart and use EWCM as an indicator but I have no symptoms of anything yet so even though it's too early to POAS, I will be using OPKs next cycle (if I'm not pregnant now).

We started OPKs our second cycle, I think, because I wanted to confirm I was Oing post-BC. I'm in the middle of cycle #8 and still TTC.

I didn't vote because I didn't use them at first but then after a couple months tried them out to make sure I was seeing a surge.
I used OPKs for a while but once I started my new job it became a pain. Now I just chart and track CM and we are still trying over a year later.

We used OPKs because I have endometriosis so I didn't want to waste any time. And, honestly, it was kind of cool knowing when I was ovulating! And then it was incredibly helpful to know when I suddenly wasn't. It was a simple and cheap peace of mind thing for us.
