My parents never bought us any gifts for birthdays or Christmas. I did buy my parents gifts for birthdays and mother's/father's day though. I always said that I wouldn't be like them when I grew up, but now Mr. Bee and I don't buy each other gifts!
But I do want to buy charlie and olive a birthday and Christmas gift each year, and they better get me a mother's day gift (or mr. bee can force them to!).

We always did gifts for EVERYTHING. My mom would take us shopping for my dad and my dad would take us shopping for my mom. And of course, they'd go together to shop for my sister and me.

My parents bought us gifts on Christmas, Birthdays, Valentine's Day, and Easter.
We all bought my parents gifts on Christmas, Birthdays, Mother's/Father's Day AND their anniversary. On their 25th, we threw them a HUGE party!
We all buy each other gifts too (siblings). People always ask us why we don't draw names because our family is so big, but I love buying for every single one of my siblings!

We didn't have much growing up but my parents always threw us a party and got us bday and Christmas gifts. I give my parents gifts for their birthdays and mother's/father's day too.

Yes, we are HUGE gift-givers in my family. My husband comes from a non-gift family. His parents just weren't into giving gifts. My husband is a better gift giver now that I'm around and he actually enjoys giving them now. He gets spoiled by my parents every birthday and Christmas and I love watching how embarrassed he gets by it all.

Yes we got (and still do) get gifts for everything. My MIL goes crazy every yeat at Christmas for us, she says its once a year and she wants to help out. (they are big money givers.)

yes, giving gifts and cards on major holidays and birthdays is huge in my family. i think it's why one of my primary "love languages" is receiving gifts. DH's family isn't like that at all, so i don't get upset if he doesn't surprise me with gifts (but i do give him lots of hints!)

We gave gifts for every holiday, too. I love giving gifts and thinking about the perfect item to suit the occasion. DH didn't grow up with as much gift giving. He's still a bit awkward with shopping/giving.

Growing up we got gifts for birthdays, Christmas, Easter. Then maybe something little for Valentines. We always gave/give Mother's and Father's Dad's gifts.

My parents gave us money for Christmas and birthdays with the expectation that we put it away for university. And my brother and I would pay for dinners out for our parents' birthdays, and mother/father's day,

Yep and we still get/give gifts. DH's family was the same way. His mom may or may not have given us an Easter basket this year....
She really needs a grandchild!! Haha

My bro and I always bought gifts and knicknacks from the school stash, but we didnt get gifts. We usually got money for special occasions. One time, my dad took us to best buy and we bought tons of CDs a disc man a boom box.... Felt so cool!

My parents got us b-day gifts when we were young but then it turned into cash and then nothing. That might be the reason why I'm not really into getting gifts. My siblings would get each other gifts for christmas. We usually call each other on our birthday to say happy birthday.

@Mrs. Bee: Yes, we bought and received gifts for every major holiday and still do. DH said not to get his mom a mother's day gift as he stopped that a long time ago and I was like oh my not my momma! Nothing elaborate, we usually get a $25 gift card for the major holidays other than Christmas and Birthdays.
