I'm expecting soon and I let my mom know the names we picked out for our twins. She thought they were ok, but then she proceeded to make other suggestions for us, and said that we should name the babies after someone famous (like a heroine in a novel). Keep in my mind that my mom gave me and my sister VERY common names! We're gonna stick with our chosen names, but I'm annoyed that my mom is being this way!

My parents picked out LO's korean name, and we didn't tell anyone what we were naming her until after she was born! Everyone we know loves her name.

Everybody says that they love LO's name. To our face at least. But if they didn't I wouldn't do anything about it. It's your baby, you're decision. Try not to let it get to you, people have opinions of everything!

Exactly why I didn't tell anyone until our babies were born. Even after Maisie was born, it took time for some family members to warm up to the name. I didn't need even any perception of judgment. And it was a nice surprise for everyone.

We have told them a few of our ideas but we haven't decided if we will tell everyone once we decide for sure. Our boy name is set but we are still trying to agree on a girl name.

My mom was the same way. She even went as far as to say she was going to call our LO by the name that she liked anyways. Ummm, I think not!

We are keeping the name a secret until baby is born, then nobody can sway us into picking something else! I did tell me mother in law one of my ideas that my husband didn't like and she thought it was totally weird haha Glad that one was already a no....lol

My MIL does not like one the names we have picked out. We are still going with the name. We like it.

They didn't like all the names we were choosing between. The name we picked hadn't been on our radar so when we decided we weren't sure what kind of reception it'd get but everyone seemed very positive.

There is no way we would tell anyone the name we are going with. It's so personal, we feel we don't want or need anyone's opinion on it other than us.
That being said, our daughter is getting a 'normal' name and if people have a problem with it once she's born? Oh well.

DH and I like unique names, I'm sure our family will have a fit, which is why we aren't telling them until the baby is born.

I didn't want to tell my Mom the names we picked out for this very reason. She's very opinionated and I didn't want her to negotiate names with me or think of alternatives. BUT she's been constantly bugging me about names, so I finally gave her 3 names - names I do not like (buff sounding girl names, instead of the real names).
It was so funny hearing her responses. I let her marinate on those names for a few days and when I called again she had a 3 different names in mind, so she told me. The 2nd name she picked out was the name we chose!!! I couldn't believe it because I've never mentioned the name before.
Because she managed to pick our name, I ended up telling her =)

We did mention names a while back, but didn't tell anyone what we've decided on. We have better things to do than defend our choices, and there is always the possibility that the names won't actually be right for the babies when they arrive. Once the names are on the babas, everyone else can just like it or lump it!

We didn't tell anyone about Cameron's name before he was born. I didn't want to hear it if anyone didn't like it. After he was born and we announced his name, we only got positive responses- well except for one.
My husband's grandfather asked his mom why we chose such a "modern" name. This just cracked me up, we chose it from Ferris Bueller which came out when we were kids!
