my mom came a couple days before DH went back to work (he took 2 weeks leave) and stayed for that week to help with the transition. I was glad we had time as a little family of three to start - it was a magical little bubble and very special time for us. LO was an easy newborn though, so it didn't feel like we needed help. with #2 (fx we get there) I think we will need more help.

She's planning on staying the full 90 days that USCIS will let her. We'll see if she can make it here with all these stupid storms though!

She stayed in our house while my daughter was in the nicu and took care of getting things ready and of our pets.

Yes. We requested two weeks on our own to adjust to our new family unit, and then my mom flew in from the States to stay with us when DH returned to work. She stayed eight weeks last time and was a huge help with everything. She's coming back now that we've had DD2, after giving us our two weeks again, and will be staying for six weeks. It will be so nice as DH works extremely long hours and two under two can be a handful!

Yes! I was so fortunate - she came when I was like 38 weeks and stayed for several months. My mom is my best friend and it was so amazing to have her around. Even my husband was thrilled - we'd be in bed with the baby and we'd hear her tiptoeing around and come out to a spotless house and food on the table. DH called her our "fairy" because she was magical. Lol

No, but my husband had 7 weeks off, which was amazing. I imagine that with #2 we will have to figure something out.
