Ugh I don't think DS has peed more than once?
Afraid he's gonna have jaundice like his sister did -.-

@chopsuey119: was she? Did she need the lights?
I don't remember anymore about the diapers. DD was a bit jaundiced but didn't need the lights.

@Andrea: yeah she got the lights! We rented a machine and got to treat her at home though.
Just talked to the nurse and she said they like to see 1 wet diaper the first 24 hrs and a poop within 48

LMW was so hungry from the minute she was born... the only thing that kept her quiet was an ounce or two of formula and then she'd fall asleep... so we had plenty of wet diapers I think. We'd start with nursing then when she became frantic, we'd switch boobs, then frantic, then ounce of formula.

she didn't pee much at first. She was jaundiced but it went away within the 5 days that we were in hospital post c-section.

our LO waited until the 25th hour to pee. She had dilated kidneys before she was born so they were watching extra close, and did an ultrasound. She had jaundice and we treated at home for about 5 days.

I remember the pee looking funny - it had bright orange things in it that looked like blood at first glance. One wet diaper in 24 hours sounds about right.

@mrbee: I gave him a little formula after nursing him. Isn't super hungry though. Just a sleepy little fella. @Andrea: yep! I think insurance covered it too. Only paid a 40 dollar copay.

P didn't have much by the hospitals standards BUT she definitely had more than "needed" for a breastfed baby.
1 w & 1 d for 1st day of life
2 & 2 for 2nd
3 & 3 for 3rd
5+ & 3+ from 4th day on
Bf'ing on demand & sunlight can help any jaundice.

My LO had tons of pee/poopy diapers- whatever was on the chart as "should have had", LO exceeded by like, 4-5 diapers. His plumbing always worked very well, haha!
