My mom did. Disposables were not available in Korea. I can't imagine how much work it was to wash all those diapers every day!

Yep. Disposables were not economical then. She cloth diapered is until my dad was able to start trading for disposable diapers at his trade shows.

Yep! Cloth was the more economical choice for them at that time. Out of the three of us, only my youngest sibling had disposables.

Yep, both our parents-- safety pins and all!
We followed our parents' lead and cloth diapered our first, but with the CA drought, we're considering disposables for #2.

Yes, they didn't have the money for disposables. It was extra bad because I was so sensitive to wet diapers...they were constantly changing my diapers!

My mum used cloth for me until 6-8 weeks. After her gifted service was up she switched to disposables.

She cloth diapered for a short time- gifted diaper service.

1983 - yep she cloth diapered us, and I had bad eczema and nappy rash too. poor thing had laundry coming out of her ears.

Yep! And my mom helped me figure out cloth diapering for DS. I was totally over thinking it. My MIL also cloth diapered and thought we were crazy till she saw the modern diapers

Yep! They were fairly "hippy-ish" at that point in their lives anyway

Yup! She didn't know how to put on a disposable one when my first daughter was born - she put it on backwards the first time!

My mom did. I think she used a diaper service? That's actually a lot of the reason why I wanted to cloth diaper as well.

Nope. My mom is one of three sisters. Oldest sister cloth diapered both her kids, middle sister cloth diapered her oldest and did disposables with the younger one, my mom did disposables with both kids.

My three older sisters used cloth diapers since money was tight and disposables were a luxury. By the time I was born, my parents were better off and able to afford disposables.

Yup. Disposable diapers were not available in the USSR in 1983. Plus they didn't have a washing machine. I can't even imagine. She thinks anyone who does it by choice now is insane!

No, my parents used disposables. My MIL cloth diapered all 3 of her kids.

Yes—my grandparents gifted them a service and they kept doing it. We cloth too, but we wash our own.

Yes! My mom said she had to use those diaper safety pins! I was shocked. She said disposables weren't very common and had only just become available so it was not an obvious option for her. I'm so glad for the choice though I feel bad for the environment.

No, my mom used disposable diapers on both kids (born in 1981 and 1984 in the US)-- she said it was totally worth the money. She hates laundry!

They did for the first few months, but I had bad diaper rash and they found them to be a hassle, so they switched to disposables.

Me and my 2 brothers were all cloth diapered. Early 80's, I don't think disposables were very common. Could be wrong though. I know they used a diaper service as well.

Nope! My mom's not thrilled about using cloth for her grandchild, either, but I'm hoping she'll come around.

Yes! I was more economical. They did use disposables while out in public, etc. though. I'm thinking about cloth diapering, and she's very supportive.
It's funny, when I was talking to my mom about the cloth diaper options that are available today, she was floored! Back then, it was just a thick piece of cloth with safety pins lol.
