I was never in this situation but my best friend wasn't allowed to date her boyfriend in high school. Her parents caught them cutting school and made her break up with him. It didn't work too well since they continued to date and see each other for 2 years...she just lied about who she was with!

When I was in junior high, my best friend's parents had gotten a divorce. She lived with her mom after that, and my uber-conservative parents would not let me stay the night with her anymore bc there wasn't a Daddy there! I guess they thought Daddies ensure that kids do not do bad things??? It was so lame!

My parents would never have forbidden me to hang out with anyone, but they sure let me know if there was a friend who they did not like and made sure I understood why. They were always right in the end.

Yeah, I was a bad kid so my parents didnt much care for some of my friends. I recently reconnected with one of the girls I was banned from and am glad that we are friends now, vs when we were young and reckless.

Oh yes. There was one friend I had in elementary school through middle school that my mom just hated. Thought she was a brat, a bad influence, etc. Very much discouraged me from hanging out with her, which of course made me want to act like the friend even more! Funny enough, the friend turned out to be a responsible adult with a very well paying, travel around the world kind of job.

Nope, but my parents were sneaky and would sign me up for more activities and in middle/high school they got me more babysitting and retail jobs when I started hanging out with friends they didn't like....that way I was always too busy to hang out with the people my parents didn't like.

My mom didn't like me hanging out with a friend of mine from school who was gay. Mom thought it would rub off on me *eye roll*. I ended up lying because I thought it was bullshit that she wouldn't let me pick my friends. She definitely was/still is a good person. Just gay. Sigh.

A few... My parents didn't let me date in high school so they forbid me from seeing multiple guys
When I was 9th grade... or 10th grade I was friends with this girl who was convinced she was a prophet and was always dolling out prophecies to people but they were a little concerning. Somehow she knew about some issues I'd been having (self-harm) and was prophesying how it would always haunt me and I've never fully heal or recover from it... it was very dark and traumatizing and my parents deemed it an unhealthy relationship (it was). I started getting better once our friendship ended.
