Haha no, but I got married at 20 so...

When I told my parents I was going to med school, I could see them sort of resigned and disappointed that I was choosing career over a relationship. They asked, "don't you want a family?"
Valid question, but my answer was, "I want to be happy."

Luckily, I kept my eye on the prize and was able to achieve my goals (including a family)

Nope! They never pressured me to get married or have kids - they were really big on getting an education, establishing a career, travelling, etc.

I didn't get married until I was 32, and having our first burrito at 34. While it would have been nice to just be married for a few more years, I wouldn't trade my life/circumstances with anyone. I think my mom was pretty relieved, though!

My sister is in a long-term relationship and she has two beautiful children. She's not married, but they live together, file taxes together, bought a house together, and have a family together. The amount of pressure she gets for not making it official is incredible.

Nope, I got together with my husband at 22 and married at 26. They never specifically pressured me to get married, but may have had a "S#!T or get off the pot" discussion after a few years.

Haha no way! I got married at 28 and I think for my parents that was a little young. Not too young to get married but maybe a little earlier than they expected. They got married at 30 and 33. My dad has weird views on marriage though. He's not a fan.

If anything, my parents (especially my mother) encouraged me to enjoy my twenties, live for myself, and follow my personal dreams. After college, I enjoyed a few years of single bliss in a tiny, downtown studio apartment. I had a wonderful time bonding with my girl friends, working full-time, and taking a few graduate courses. I am so grateful for that period in my life, as I grew immensely, and learned so much about myself, and what I truly wanted out of life.

DH and I were married when we were 27, after almost three years together. My parents couldn't have been happier, as they love DH dearly, and felt we were more than ready for the next step. I feel it was perfect timing. Our pregnancy came a little sooner than anticipated, but hey, that's life!

I will definitely pass the same advice down to our daughter.

No pressure at all. My parents' main focus has always been education and independence not relationships. Now that I am entering my 3rd year of marriage and they are getting older, early 60s, I am getting slight baby pressure.

An older gent I know wishes his daughters would settle down. His children are in their 40s and still rely on him for financial help. I think he sees marrying them off as a way to lessen his burden. Too bad they can't aren't more independent on their own.

My mom was the typical Jewish mother who tried setting me up on dates and bought me jdate. I didn't feel pressed to get married.... But I did feel pressure to date a Jew.

Quite the opposite. When I told my parents I was engaged they tried to convince me to take my time and consider other men. I was pretty young and just finished college at the time.

Nope.. I also married & had kids young then divorced & was still relatively young when re-marrying (almost 26).

I do agree that today we get married much later than we used to & it's affected family size & how many grandparents aren't able to be as involved due to age. I can't remember where it was exactly but a mom/grandma talked to their daughter about how she had been seeing that in her friends... all their kids were waiting so long to have kids that by the time they came along grandparents we much older. Very different from when that generation had started families & their parents were still often working & very active.

No way. I was 21 when I got engaged and 22 when I got married and my mom did her damndest to talk me out of getting married. lol

I think my parents were actually surprised by how early I got married (a month before my 26th birthday), and when I think about it, I still think "wow, that was way younger than I would have expected too!" But I still got to live on my own, take a job halfway across the world for a couple years, finish grad school, and do a fair bit of traveling before I got married, so I feel like I'd already gotten to do a lot of things I'd wanted to do before marriage. I think because I was very academically-oriented my parents thought I'd be getting married around 30 if ever.

Yes...all the time! At 27, my mom thought I was old getting married. And then when we waited 2 years to start TTC, she nearly flipped her lid. She was married at 21 and had a baby by the time she was 24, which is great if that's what you want. It wasn't what I wanted, and she's already on me for baby #2. I'm 32 and LO is 8 months. I know my clock is ticking, but I'll have a baby when DH and I are ready, not when she is!
