My niece was moved into her freshman dorms today. I'm so excited for her.
It reminds me of the day my parents dropped me off at school. My parents were never emotional but my dad actually got teary eyed when he dropped me off. Of course, then it made me cry. I was the first one to go off to college so it was a new experience for them.
Did your parents get emotional?

No, I think they were ready for me to move out, but then again I only moved to a city 20 minutes away, so they still saw me once a week or so!

my dad did! my mom did not, as far as I know.
they had me young (mom 18, dad 20) so it was a very new experience for them to not have me around! lol!

Both of my parents got really emotional. I went to college out of state and across the country though so it was a huge adjustment…for all of us!

Oh yes. It was tough. I went all the way from Hawaii to PA. I think it was very brave for them to let me go that far!

I don't think so, but who knows what happened when they left? I only went to school 1.5 hours away and was home a fair amount.

Yup,, they both did. They both did well holding it together, though. They weren't annoying or obnoxious about it. I was going to college 8 hours away from home and I was their little girl so, BIG deal.

Uh, no. And I moved 12 hours away. My mom didn't even come on the trip (I don't remember why), and my dad left about 2 hours after we got to my school. He literally helped me move my stuff into my dorm room and left.

Not really, my dad doesn't really show those kind of fuzzy emotions, at least not infront of people I mean & my mom was being tough & helping me get organized.

My mom cried a little bit - and I was only an hour and a half away! My dad used to just randomly come up and take me for dinner or breakfast. We're pretty close, haha

I only was about an hour and 15 minutes away, and yet my momma still was pretty sad (and by sad I think it was more of the "bittersweet" kind of sads...I am the oldest, so first to leave, and I've always been SUPER close with both my mom and dad)--which in turn made ME sad!

Nope. The tension between my parents and I was incredibly high at the time I went to college, and I'm pretty sure they'd been counting down the days just like I was. I moved four hours away and none of us were sad! (Just so this doesn't sound completely horrible, things are much better between us now!)

Oh yes! I chose a school 3 hours away frome home... they were emotional dropping me off, and then less than a month later my dad's job transferred them across the country... yikes, that was a breakdown!

Yea. I went out to Cali my freshman year. I remember waving bye to my dad (my bro and mom flew out with me).... and remember dropping my bro and mom off at airport after orientation and my mom crying. But, she's always been a crier!
