Nope. My dad graduated high school and went to work in construction. My mom got pregnant at 17 (my dad was 20) and they got married right away. My mom got kicked out of high school for getting married (oddly enough they were okay with the pregnancy but not the marriage?) but got her GED before my brother was born during what would have been her senior year of high school.
College was never even an option in my house-- we WERE going. My parents both worked their asses off, often at multiple jobs each, to give us a comfortable life and they wanted things to be easier for us. It had never occurred to me that I might not want to go.

My dad has his bachelor's, and my mom attended for 2 years before deciding to go to cosmetology school. My inlaws both are chemical engineers, and my FIL has his MBA. MIL didn't finish her MBA.
Both DH and really value education as a result. My mom wishes she had finished because she doesn't know what she will do once she can't do hair anymore. We will expect LO to do schooling beyond HS, and it will be practical.

@Mrs. J: Nope! Just a normal public high school out a ways in the country. She found out she was pregnant the summer before her senior year of high school and was married a month later. When she tried to come back they said that she was a bad influence for getting married and they didn't want other girls to think getting married young was glamorous or something? I don't know, seems crazy to me! Nothing about teen pregnancy is or was glamorous. Although my parents did beat the odds and are still married 39 years later! (My mom always says she fell ass backwards into a good marriage because nothing she did was anything she'd recommend for building a relationship.... haha)

Yes, all four of my and DH's parents have graduate degrees and my MIL is currently working on her Ph.D. post-retirement (so much for relaxation! lol) so education was emphasized by our parents. It was always expected and assumed I would go to college. One grandparent was college educated but the rest were not.

My mom did, but is a couple credits away from finishing her bachelor's degree.
My dad went to a bit of community college after he got out of the marine corps, but didn't finish Because they had small children and night school was hard for him.

My dad has a bachelors. My mom took some classes in accounting but never got a degree. My mom is a huge reader though and always valued learning. Not going to college was not an option for myself or my brother, we knew we were going and we both did.

My mom may have graduated high school, and I don't think my dad finished. They were not well off, and it was expected of them to start working as soon as possible to provide for their families.

Both my parents are college grads, first (and only) in their immediate families. My ILs did not attend college.

My mom has a masters degree and my dad has a PhD. Both in engineering. It was always drilled into our heads that education was the most important thing. My parents did everything to make sure my brother and I got the best education possible.

Yes, but my mom didn't finish. Same with my grandma and my aunt. I was the first woman on my mom's side, to graduate from college. Education is very important to my family.

My dad has a pHd and my mom is a teacher (so bachelor's and teaching degree). To no one's surprise at all, I am a teacher and my husband has a pHd in the same field as my father.

My mom has her Masters and my dad has his Bachelors. It took my dad 13 years (plus a Vietnam) war from start to finish, but he did.

Nope! Which made them encourage me to. I got my bachelor's. I toy with going for my master's, but the timing isn't right. Maybe someday.
Eta: my mom recently attended a community college to get a certificate. Proud moment!

My dad has a Bachelors and my mom has a Masters. They always made education a priority in our minds. Although they did realize and understand that college is not for everyone. For instance, my brother is on ski patrol at a ski resort and had no need to get a college degree.

My parents did it. In fact I was the first in my family to graduate from college. I went because it was a dream of my late grandfather's to go, which is why he came to this country. So, I part went in his honor and part because I wanted a better life than my parents.
