My mom wouldn't let me eat more than one egg a day. Sometimes she would let me eat two, but then I had to skip the egg the next day.
Did your parents limit your intake of any particular foods growing up?

Nope, never...and I still eat way too much candy. I get my sweet tooth from my dad for sure.

My sister and I were allowed 2 sweets a day and got to pick what they were--dessert, soda, etc.

@mrbee: How come she limited your egg intake? JW!
I really didn't have anything limited. She just encouraged us to make good decisions!

@MrsBrewer: OPPRESSION!!!
I think she wanted to minimize the amount of cholesterol we ate.

Nope, we were allowed to eat whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted. There were no rules surrounding food in our house. We have good genes though, so even though we are big eaters we are all really thin.

Sweets - specifically sodas. We were only allowed soda on the weekend, and usually only 1 a day (maybe 2, but I think only 1).

We hardly ever drank pop, I remember going crazy at friend's houses that had pop in their fridge. Only when we would go out to eat.

Not that I can remember. I used to drink soda only - no water. Maybe a glass of milk or juice.

Just junk food and sweets. They rarely bought cookies, chips, soda or other junk food so we rarely got to eat those things at home. When they did buy junk food, it was usually a "healthy" version of the item.

I think junk food since we were never allowed to purchase them except for on random ocassions when they said okay. I always asked though when we went to the store - just in case it happened to be a yes day!

@mrbee: My mom had the 3 eggs per week rule and never more than one egg per day.
Aside from that we rarely had fast food and they tried to limit my candy intake but failed because I used to get my own candy with pennies I found, so I always had cavities

Nope
@mrbee: maybe that is why you rebelled as an adult and now eat too many eggs? Hmmm *rubs chin*

@REESE: Haha nope it's just laziness! Eggs are the world's easiest food to cook!!
I used to eat sandwiches instead but cut out wheat last year alas...

I grew up in a teensy town in the middle of nowhere, with the nearest restaurants and grocery stores at least 30 minutes away, so we were really dependent on what mom bought at the store. She's a *very* healthy eater, so we never had:
-white bread
-sodas of any kind
-cookies
-sugary cereals
-candy
-chips
Our after school snacks were usually things like something we called "cheesy wheats"--melted cheese on top of plain shredded wheat, or peanut butter on celery, or sometimes graham crackers and apples or air popped popcorn.
You'd think that would have rubbed off on me--but I love junk food as an adult. I don't buy it to have it at home very often though.

Just sweets (candy, sodas, cereal, even gum!) My mom is a dental hygienist so she was looking out for our teeth.

They didn't limit us, but they didn't buy a lot of sweets or any soda for us.

Nope but we ha a bunch of healthy food and some junk food to eat....
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Nope, we had way too much junk growing up. When we were little, we had to ask for it, but as we got older, we just took it
