My mom packed really healthy stuff and water in a thermos. I longed for soda and Fun Fruit snacks!

My mom packed my lunches, but she allowed me to pick the snacks (with some guidelines)

Noooo...
She shopped for our lunch stuff and put it all in a pantry and in a special drawer in the kitchen, but we packed it ourselves.
Soooometimes, I snuck chocolate milk into my thermos and maybe an extra rice crispy treat and sometimes I forgot my banana at home.

yep and I totally threw it away more often than not..
I wanted Lunchables so bad! they were pretty new at the time.
Or an individual bag of Doritos or something. My mom would always buy a big bag and ziploc chips. I was really jealous of the kids with the small bags.

My dad did until high school. He always left a sweet note on my napkin

Yup! I took dinner leftovers for lunch for as long as I can remember. Sandwiches were almost like special treats that we only got during field trips. I didn't know that people disliked eating leftovers until I started working. We were allowed to pick a couple hot lunches from the school menu every month, though.

No. I had to pack my own and was limited to a sandwich and juice box. No snacks

My mom packed our lunches. She was a semi-health nut and I was always jealous of the kids with cookies and hawaiian punch in their lunch bags every day!

I remember packing my own in the mornings by second or third grade. I was picky and didnt like hot lunch. I remember feeling lucky to buy chocolate milk instead of regular!

Yes. My mom packed my lunch everyday from kindergarten through senior year of high school. She would even cut the crust off my sandwiches because she knew I didn't like them! Back then I didn't think much of it, but I now realize how much effort and love went into it

Yup, my mum made them for me right until I left school. I was really lucky to have a mum who cared so much about us having healthy food.

I think I was around 12 when I had to start packing my own lunch, but there was ALWAYS a sandwich made by the 'rents.

My mom made our lunches every day and they were always super healthy - like turkey and sprouts on a pita. I was jealous of the kids with beef jerky, Lunchables, and a Mountain Dew!
