Just curious. We have two trips planned in August that involve the beach. Would you actually take your 2.5 or 3 mo old to the actual beach?

I probably wouldn't since I'm anti uv rays.. But! As long As you keep her under the shade and make sure she stays comfy I don't see why not!

I say as long as the temperature is tolerable and you have an umbrella for shade and are aware that you'll have to probably cut your time short then I'm sure it would be fine

Not unless we were so close that I can walk back with her. And even that I'll only stay for 30mins max under a UV tent and have her on long sleeve and pants.

Looking back, I totally would have ( I had a winter baby) as long as I could get back like Regberdasiy suggests.

Yes. Just make sure there's shade, an umbrella, I wouldn't stay too long, and my doctor oked sunscreen as long as you wash it off in the bath at night. And of course keep the baby well hydrated.

I would go for less than 20 minutes, during non-peak sun hours, with a rashguard. Monitor for reaction to sand. Vitamin D is good for them but just need to take precautions. Ask doctor about sunscreen.

I would, provided it was safe weather to be outside- not too hot or windy. With an umbrella/sun canopy I don't think it's a big deal. If anything, they're getting fresh air and beach people aren't as likely to try to touch the baby as mall people. Just be careful about blocking wind from getting sand on them, I know a LO who got a grain of sand in their eye & it had to be surgically removed. The drs said it was not uncommon:/

We take DS all the time (he's four months); in fact, we just went yesterday! I think the first time we took him he was about 4-5 weeks? We have UV pop-up tent he stays in, and I found him a little UV rash guard sun suit to wear, so he's pretty protected from the sun. He's not a big fan of swimming yet, but he does love to watch the waves come in and he loves to "play" in the sand.

I took LO to the beach when she was 5 weeks old, and have twice since then.
We are leaving tomorrow for a week long vacation at the beach. Our hotel is walking distance from the ocean though, so I will be able to walk her back. We plan on using lots of sunscreen, a sun hat, and a big huge umbrella for shade from the sun. Also, we are bringing her bumbo because it wont be affected by the sand.

Yup, I'd just make sure she was well protected from the sun - hat with a brim and umbrella and all that fun stuff and maybe a battery operated fan.

yep! we're in a beach community, so it's totally the norm here. everyone starts the beach super early, and we all turned out alright!

Yep. We're planning a beach trip, and LO will be 4 months. We'll keep her under the tent mostly. I grew up in a beach area. My parents took me to the beach for the first time when I was two weeks old. I don't think it's a big deal as long as precautions are taken.
