Yeah, but more random and some abstract things like anything that looks like it could be a bug (especially fuzz), death (that one was hard to explain to her), robots, and the dark. I think it's normal as their little worlds begin to expand.

My daughter is really brave and fearless, but she did develop some weird little fears around that age. Like, train horns. We hear them often where we live, and for a while, she seemed genuinely afraid of them. I just validated her fears and tried to provide comfort, and they've gone away largely.

@erinpye: Oh yeah, the "bugs" on the carpet! LO had some naan bread the other night which had little black seeds in and I think she was a bit freaked out!

She's also scared of going down the stairs, bin bags and the hoover.

She's pretty fearless, sometimes when its' convient for her she is scared of the dark (you go get it it's dark in there...) and she doesn't like loud noises, she refuses to ride with papa in the tractor because "it's too loud" even though she's never tried it. She will sit in there with him but he can NOT turn it on.

E had a thing about the blender but i guess we desensitized her over time...mama needs her smoothies. She's ok with hair dryers now, too, because we use them so often on her in the winter

So this is going to get worse? LO is 17.5 months and runs to hide in her playtent if she sees the vacuum and when she accidently makes the DVD player open.

DD is afraid of the dark, scary monsters, clowns, the vacuum.

@sandy: with the hand dryers, two summers ago we were in a museum and I took DS to the bathroom. They had the Dyson hand dryers and he SCREAMED bloody murder while I was drying my hands. I think the whole museum heard him. After that he would always ask "are there dryers or paper towels?" when we would go into public restrooms. Even now, I'm not allowed to use hand dryers when he is with me.

Yea, this happened for us around 18 months. It seems to be getting a little better now at 19 months, but we'll see!
