So 'they' say that babies have different cries for different needs/wants?
Do you know your LO's different cries?

Yeah she has a tired cry, an I'm hungry cry, a bored cry (more like a yell) and an I'm hurt/not feeling well cry. I can usually tell the difference.

Yes, LO has a drama cry- which means she is in the pack n play or being ignored. Her other cries are hungry or tired and not as intense!

definitely!
funnily enough too - when she's angry (or if I'm not feeding her quick enough) she yells, "nah! nnnn! nuhhhh!" I swear she's yelling no, lol.
she's been waking up lately out of a dead sleep with her pitifully sad wail! it kills me because I can't prevent it

No idea on different cries yet...but I'd love to know! Luckily she is usually satisfied by a diaper change, re-swaddle, or food.

Yeah...his hungry cry is angry, his wet cry is more of a prolonged whimper, his tired cry is panicked and his just wants to be held cry is low and sad-sounding.

According to this one woman, babies have.. 4 cries? 6? She was on Oprah and it was pretty crazy.

Yah, one day I just started hearing it. I got all excited, but everyone else in the house already knew what was up so I was just late to the party.

@chopsuey119: I remember seeing that! I think a user posted the link to the youtube clip here awhile back!

LO rarely cries and is easily calmed, so it was months before I knew the different cries. One friend made me feel pretty bad about not knowing her different cries one day when LO was crying in the car.

I was watching my 2.5 month old niece last week and was afraid that I wouldn't be able to differentiate her cries. After watching her for two days in a row, I was definitely able to tell her hungry cry from her sleepy cry.

I always worried because it took me a LONG time to differentiate LO's cries. But I got it, eventually.
