I'm totally not a DIY type of gal. I'd rather buy things pre-made.
For my LO's 1st birthday, however, I decided I would do all the decorations myself.. (birthday banner, pom pom streamers, paper flowers (about 6 dozen of them), Korean 1st birthday towers). OMG. I just spent 2 hours working on something and I'm not even 1/10 done!
At this rate I'll have all of my projects complete in.. 100-120 hours?

For party decor, i usually I go to Etsy... best of both worlds as far as looking like something "DIY"... but I didn't do it!
I did make her fondant-decorated homemade cakes for her past two birthdays though. It's a lot of work and stress but I crazily enjoy it.

i don't think i'll go all fancy with the 1-year bday. but if i do anything, i think i'll probably buy it somewhere because i can't imagine how much free time i'll have with 2 babies in tow. but i would love to DIY (M for myself lol)....
good luck with the decorations! i think it's definitely more satisfying when you see the end product and realize you did it all by yourself!

I'm not a big DIYer. I want to be, but I just don't enjoy crafting all that much. I'd rather read a book.

@NYCaliMama: I love Etsy! Unfortunately I didn't see what I was looking for. :T Are you a baker? I've always wanted to take a cake decorating class.. 
@tequiero21: Dood. I wouldn't even think about doing anything DIY(M) if I had twins. Thanks! I'm going to try to submit a "Parties" blog to Hellobee after it's all over.

@chopsuey119: yeah I have an etsy addiction. love it, especially for printables... Yup been cake decorating for a while... my mom would bake cakes, then I'd decorate them. She first sent me to a class when I was 10yo. I stopped in college and in my 20s, then took it up again after I had my first LO. Took the Wilton fondant class at Michael's. You should look into it... So fun!

Yes I DIY (when you are on a budget) sure it takes more time. ALOT MORE TIME... but I personally had no choice to have the "vision" I would maybe buy a few things though. Or ask for help

i'm a buyer...i'm not crafty and don't have a good eye for design, so i like to throw money at those kinds of problems. not a lot of money though!

It depends, I would say I do some things but outsource others. For my son's birthday, I made the paper poms and monthly banner, but ordered the two tiered cake from a bakery.
