Absolutely made a believer outta me! Yes- molars and canines are still misery, but there is a significant difference.
In 21 months I have given him Ibuprofen for teething twice, other than wearing the necklace he has had nothing else for teething.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: @lemondrop: Any sellers or particular ones you recommend?

@googly-eyes: we got ours off of Amazon, I think it was Art of Cure or something like that. I know Inspired by Finn is a popular one too.

@googly-eyes: hazelaid.com.
They have tons of options! I have heard the most "effective" ones are the ones that are darker amber and "cloudier," (as compared to the super shiny amber).

I haven't read about them really, but was wondering, how do they work for teething? Do the kids just munch on them?

@Boogs: no, the oils, etc from the amber go in through the skin.

i love ours. i definitely think i notice a difference when LO isn't wearing his. his nose is runnier, his drool output at least triples.
i figure it looks super cute, even on a boy, and there's no way it can make his teething worse!!

ehh I don't know...we used one regularly from 9-11 months and I don't think it did much, but then again, he didn't get any teeth during that time. We're going to give it another try now, since he might be teething.

I'm skeptical. Science says that the temp point for amber to release oils is way higher than our body temperature, and that even if a small amount of oils/acids were released and absorbed, that's not going to be enough to actually make a difference in pain levels. I haven't tried them personally, I know there are moms who have and feel that they did make a difference, but I have trouble getting past the fact that all the scientific research says it isn't possible.

@loveisstrange: So, there hasn't ever been any issues with it catching on something as a child choking?
Also, can't you just get the same oils and rub into the skin instead?

@Boogs: I dunno. I don't really buy into the whole thing. We never used one.

@loveisstrange: Yeah we obviously haven't either, and we have been over teething for quite sometime. I also don't know that I would buy one next time around either.

I can't really believe they would work, they are supposed to excrete an analgesic that is absorbed by the skin.
eta: I also just read that they are supposed to help control drooling by stimulating the thyroid gland.
Maybe I should try one when I have a headache.

We noticed a considerable difference when we had ours!
The resin is warmed by ones body temp & supposed to absorb through the skin reducing inflammation, which in turn would reduce pain.

Not sure if they work, but we've had several coincidental days where she was extra drooly, fussy, and jutting out her jaws, when I've happened to forget putting her necklace on. She still has teething crying at nights (but I don't leave the necklace on at nights). Coincidence, maybe. But I like to believe.
