It happened to come up in conversation this weekend with DH's family that I'm going to put our EBF cloth diapers directly in the washing machine. The reaction was a mixture of that it's hilarious, stupid, and that "I'll learn from my mistakes."
I'm so angry. Apparently I'm also being judged because I bought a few CDs second-hand and "they might have diseases on them."

People give us crap about our desire to CD in general. Hubs was at home this weekend hanging out with some friends, and when he told them that we are looking into it and planning to give it a try, he said they spent about 20 minutes ridiculing him for it. It doesn't affect anyone but you! People need to butt out.

what do they expect you to do when your LO has a diaper explosion and poop gets on her clothes? are you supposed to throw out anything that the poop touches?Of course you would wash the clothes so its no different from washing poopy diapers.

People suck. Sorry that it's your husband's family and that you probably can't say what you're thinking to them! You'll prove them wrong, then they'll think of something else to whine about I'm sure.

I wash my FF CDs without rinsing. As long as the water is hot and you rinse thoroughly, it doesn't matter.

Yup and it's ridiculous. I'm sick of it so I usually give a snarky, "wow, you are REALLY interested in my child's poop" response.

People haven't given us crap about it. I have a friend who said that if she wanted to do it her husband would have made her get a second washer because he wouldn't be ok with washing their clothes in the poopy washing machine which makes me laugh.... but they don't judge us for it. I did have lots of people say that I wouldn't stick with it because it would be too much. But LO is a year, we're still going strong, and they can suck it.

UGH, yes! I hate all the judgy comments about CD. I guess unless you live somewhere that's really into green/eco stuff it comes with the territory.

aww sorry you're facing opposition. I did too and it's normal. It's hard for other parents to accept others as doing things any different than they did.

yeah, i think that unless you do the research, you don't realize. i had to explain to DH that BF babies poop could go right in because he was incredulous, but once i explained all the things PPs mentioned, he got it. luckily, DH and his siblings were all CD babies and it was the old-school kind, so my MIL and mom are on board! i don't really care about anyone else since they won't be changing LO's diapers once she arrives!

A lot of our family and friends back home make unnecessary/rude comments about us using cloth. It's really annoying. Luckily, it's so normal where we live now that no one bats an eye.
