I always fill them out for all baby gear! I never bother to do it for non-baby items. 
I just called Britax and they looked up my name (I'm at work and didn't have my serial numbers) and arranged to send me replacement pads for the recalled chest pads!

I did for our stroller/car seat. Everything else was a hand-me-down so I don't think we could register it.

I do for anything I buy new! Britax is amazing - they sent a brand new seat within a week when my new one had foam issues and I'd registered it. Our Zojirushi bread maker went on the fritz and since I'd registered it, they fixed it and paid for shipping to/fro. Totally worth the extra 5 minutes to me! I also save receipts for stuff like that, just in case.
