We are both beach people but I really want to go Europe and do the tourist thing, and he's not really all about that. Museums and monuments really aren't his thing. So hopefully when our kids are older we can do a long 2-3 week European vacation.

@MRBEE: I'd travel with you!

I like a combination of sightseeing (i.e. visiting the tourist attractions) and experiencing the local culture through food, festivals and meeting people. I'm not a very good relaxer and can't do beach vacations where I need to sit still and lounge- so beaches, unless there's an assortment of activities like snorkeling and catamaran rides, are out.

My husband is an easy going traveler. He's up for anything: museums, tours, beaches- anything! So we do agree on vacations... as long I plan them (:

i definitely have the travel bug. my husband just humors me, i think. he enjoys going places and seeing the world with me, but he'd be equally content just staying at home. but one thing we definitely agree on is finding good places to eat and staying at decent (nice) hotels - no more 2 stars or less. even 3 is pushing it. but i love siteseeing and also relaxing. a good mixture of both.

We are fairly much in sync. Amazing really because I have travelled a LOT more than DH ( am a bit of a travel fiend) but he is as keen as me these days.

yeah we aren't in total sync either. but I think as time has passed and we've traveled together a bit more, we're starting to agree on more things... Frequency is definitely a problem though because I don't think he gives vacays much priority. he loves to work a bit too much for my liking sometimes! I say, you are given the vacation time, use it! There'll always be work...

This is one area we tend to disagree on pretty frequently. I LOVE to travel and would jump at any chance to do so. I love the beach, visiting big cities (could never live there though), mountains, etc. I also like to plan about half the trip and let the rest just kind of fall into place.

My husband however doesn't really see the point in traveling and is content to stay home or close to home. When we do go somewhere he prefers it to be cooler weather and he doesn't want to have to deal with people. He hates the beach and big cities. His idea of planning a vacation is planning how we're gonna get home.

Frequency: This one we're kind of forced to agree on because of my husband's job. He only gets around 2 weeks of vacation time a year, one of which has to be taken as 7 consecutive days. And those are literally his only days off for the entire year without it being a huge expense. There's no such thing as a weekend so we can't take long weekend trips or even a regular weekend getaway. When he does get his vacation time it tends to be taken up by stupid things like getting wisdom teeth pulled. This year his time will be used when our baby arrives which isn't at all stupid but I still wish he had some time we could use for a getaway before the baby. Oh well, he'll retire someday.
