Yes we have the same philosophy on cleaning. We prefer it when a housecleaner does it!

Overall though, Mrs. Bee does way more cleaning than me... I am working to catch up. Sometimes around 2050, we will be about even!

My husband is way neater than I am and he views that as "his problem" - so that's why he does the majority of the cleaning

i could've written your post (except my DH doesn't really cook)! we are complete opposites, but i've learned to accept it. having a housekeeper helps too, but day-to-day, i could go mad with how he leaves things around!

he's way more into keeping the house clean than i am. this used to cause a lot of arguments so now we have get a cleaning service once a month!

While we both like a clean house I am the one that cleans up after his messes most of the time haha...

He's unable to see most messes. Like he'll cook on the stove splattering oil everywhere and not realize he needs to wipe up the cooktop afterwards.

My husband says that the major difference between us is our tolerance level. While I may not be a neat freak, I don't like the house to be super messy. My husband has a very low tolerance level and can go weeks without cleaning up if he had a choice.

I have a theory that there is boy dirt and girl dirt. He will tidy things up by making piles and putting them in corners (think magazines and receipts and mail on the corner of the kitchen counter) but won't see things like dust that has built up along the baseboards. He'll also wash enough dishes to that the sink isn't overflowing, but leave half of them in there. As if doing a few makes it look better so that's good enough. We're working on him being more proactive, and me being less of a nag about it.

DH is the germ freak; I'm the organization freak. I also do a daily job of trying to keep things tidy and clean; while, DH is very good at the big, deep cleaning jobs we do every month or so... I work from home once a week - so I try to make that my laundry/tidyup day.

I cannot tolerate a mess. The hubs doesn't notice any mess whatsoever. It's so annoying! The floor of the hubs' side of the bed is nicknamed his secondary closet - on any given day he'll have 3 pairs of jeans, 2 sweaters and socks in a giant heap by his side of the bed. UGH.

For the most part, yes. My DH has ADHD and cannot stand anything that is out of place to the extent that he is totally unable to be at home or even leave the house until everything is put away. I've never used to mind a mess until we moved in together and now I definitley prefer things to be neat, but still not to the extent of DH. As far as being clean, DH never used to even notice if something was dirty, but after I got him helping out with the cleaning now he's much more into keeping things clean in addition to being neat. He never argues with me when I say it's time to clean so I can't complain!

We have pretty similar cleaning philosophies, although DH is more meticulous than I am whereas I'm happy to get a lot of cleaning done in a little time even if it doesn't come out 100% spotless. We're both pretty bad about keeping the house clean during the week since there's no time, but we both tend to have just about the same threshold for mess. If it gets beyond a certain point we both start cleaning like mad. Unfortunately, we both hate doing dishes, so those tend to get neglected. I don't think I've ever seen DH clean the bathroom, so that always becomes my chore.

DH and I are both let it build up and then clean it cleaners.
