I don't really ask my MIL for advice because her response is I should spank for everything.
My mom thinks she raised perfect children so she doesn't have much experience with stuff like tantrums, sharing, etc.
I do ask some friends with older LOs but I feel like I'm annoying them because they have been there and done that and they are on a new phase.
I usually save my questions for Google, HB, etc.

Depends on the family member, but not usually.
I do have one friend though who is a total super mom. I look up to her immensely and do, quite often, ask for her thoughts/advice.

I don't ask my parents much, and my ILs at all. I do ask friends though! A lot!

Not really, definitely not my family! I like to ask local friends about their experiences with schools, activities, etc. Not really for parenting advice.

I ask my friends a lot, but definitely not the parents. Even though they freely give it. Their answer to her early wakings is later bed times. They can't get over how early we put her down. (side note - she goes to bed 7:15-7:30, so it's not THAT early for a 17 month old!)

I don't ask for advice from family members because they're advice is usually outdated. My sisters can be helpful, but I usually experience it first since my toddler is the oldest among the cousins. My friends either don't have kids or their kids are younger than my youngest.

Not usually. I sometimes ask my mom for advice on medical things, like if I should take him to the doctor for whatever reason, but usually I get my advice from the internet.

I have a good number of friends who have kids a little older than DS and I definitely reach out to them to get their perspective. And then I choose whether or not I listen to it.

My mom is super informed, as is my mother in law. They are both careful to only give advice if I have asked for it.

I definitely talk to my sister and mom. My sister's lo is a just a few months older than D and we have extremely similar personalities and parenting styles. I greatly respect both of their advice - moreso than from HB or others because I feel that we have similar genetics and environments.

Ugh. My stepmother asked me the other day if I realized that babies can't regulate their body temperatures and that onesies are supposed to be worn under everything... yes my son is perfectly warm and happy, thanks. Sorry he wasn't wearing one the two times you saw him...I will NOT be asking for any more advice from her.

My sister's boys are 10 months older, so I definitely ask her and I have a friend who had her 3rd LO 10 days after me, so we are often going through the same stage and since she has already been there twice, I value her advice.

I don't open that door with anybody but my husband and my pediatrician.
ETA: It is not because I believe I am holier than thou, but because, they give it to me even when I don't ask, so I can't imagine actually asking. I would be FLOODED with a whole lot of advice from the early 90s.

We ask MIL about health related stuff that we don't know about because she's a RN, plus she's never given us unwanted/unsolicited advice.
I'll ask my mom friends for advice on stuff and HB too! But the few mom friends I have physically near me have babes that are younger than DS and I'm usually the one answering from our experience.

Totally. I ask my mom, my husband will ask his parents, I ask my sister a lot (her kids are awesome so I trust her methods) and we'll ask my SIL stuff too.

I ask advice from my sister a lot - I look up to her as a mother enormously. My mum is great at listening and commiserating without immediately piling on the advice. I'm one of four, so she's pretty much seen it all when it comes to kids and is pretty practical and also recognizes a lot has changed in parenting since the 70s/80s.
My MIL is very generous with the unsolicited advice. Which I generally ignore because she has one kid, who was very easy going, and she had never heard of the "witching hour" before. I nod and smile and say thank you while imaging I'm on a beach in the Bahamas whenever she gets started.

I ask my mom. If I "disagree" with her advice she is always understanding & helps me explore other options. My MIL doesn't know which way is up, I don't know how she raised two kids...lol
