I think it can make it more difficult to be taken seriously if you have a weird name (I think a girl named Diamonds or boy named Danger might have it a little rough when submitting resumes), but I think it is absolutely possible to succeed despite it.

We have a president named Barack Hussein Obama. When he first started running I thought his name might turn many Americans off, but he did it! A name is only one part of the package, I don't think it's a deal breaker by itself.

I think you can succeed despite a name but it would be harder, which I think can affect personality. And if someone sees your name and has expect ions based on it, it could affect your personality over the long term. Not something you couldn't move past but that doesn't mean it isn't affecting you.

I have a french name as im half french so most people I know dont know anyone else with my name. Because it is still a serious, real, name, I dont get any of the negative aspects you might with a made up name. I get loads of compliments about it and i think it helps people remember me. The only downside is pronunciation. I think the problem is more with stereotyped names rather than unusual.

I definitely think it can have an effect. LO's nickname is uncommon and what I would call a fun name. It's interesting to hear people's reactions and I notice that people and kids love to say it and always remember it. I would think that will affect the way she relates to people, hopefully in a good way!
