We'll be traveling with my 14 month old for christmas, visiting family. My parents don't have any baby stuff, so I'm trying to figure out what I'll need to pack/buy. What do you guys usually do for feedings? We always put her in the high chair at home, and wonder if we'll need to bring a booster.

We never did, we just held her to feed at that age.

We have never brought a booster chair with, and we travel a lot. DS either sat on a chair and has his plate on the chair too, or we put his plate on a coffee table and DS stands and eats. He's never been a messy eater, so that was never an issue. At my parents, they have a playpen and highchair. They bought cheap ones at a yard sale since we usually spend a month at a time there. I always figure the less I can travel with, the better.

We didn't either. We had way too many other stuff to take and so this was the least important.
You can also make or buy those baby fabric chair slings if you're worried about room

We brought a travel high chair we already owned in our suitcase (the Inglesina chair, fwiw).

We go visit dh's parents often enough that they have bought a high chair that they keep there, but other times that we've traveled, lo has either sat on laps, a chair by herself (with us closeby), or we've bought/used a lobster clip high chair that's easy to pack: http://www.amazon.com/phil-teds-Lobster-Highchair-Black/dp/B004854WM0 that only works on some tables though!

We didn't-- with all of the gear that is needed to travel with a baby, that was an "extra" that we could live without for a short visit.
If I was staying for 2+ weeks, I would look into buying a used high chair on CL and having my parents pick it up, or ordering something on Amazon and shipping it there.

No, but we had inexpensive high chairs at our destination. My parents bought two at a large tag sale.

No need to travel with them for us. My parents have a high chair and booster at their house. They also have a small travel crib, pack and play, and two toddler beds.
My FIL has a booster that I bought as well as my spare pack and play at his house. -
In the past we bought cheap highchairs/boosters on amazon and had them delivered to our destination or borrowed from a family member.

All the grandparents bought cheap high chairs, but when we went on vacation to Vegas we took the Phil and Ted clip on high chair and it worked great.
Depending on where your parents are you might also be able to rent stuff.

@Pumpkin Pie: Where are you traveling? We have done two things...1) purchased items off Amazon (we are prime) sent to the location and left there and 2) rented equipment.
MIL will not allow us to store anything at their condo (ridiculous) so we rent when we visit Naples. There is a great store there - most resort towns have something similar. I am renting a crib, pnp, booster and basket of toys for $85/week this time around.
My parents allow us to leave universal items. So over the years we have collectively left a booster, pnp, umbrella stroller, water rafts and smaller toys at their condos. We have 4 grandkids on my dads side and like 10+ on my moms side...so plenty of mama's buying things to leave behind and let the others use!

DD2 is 14m and if I had to bring it on a plane I would leave it at home. If you really felt you need it you can buy a cheapie off CL and have your family pick it up for you?

When we went for about two weeks for a family visit I brought a Brica folding one and it ended up working perfectly for that. At grandparents' houses that we visit more frequently I have FP booster seat that stays there.

We brought our Inglesina fast chair with us a few times. It packs up pretty well. But we already had it--I wouldn't buy something just for a trip (but I am an under buyer!).

We have a fabric one we bring if there isn't going to be one at our destination.

I'd love not to bring more stuff, but I don't know if I'd be able to hold her for every single meal.

Could your parents maybe buy a cheap one or one that straps to a regular chair so she has more use for it as she gets older?
If she sits still, you could just put her in the chair and keep an eye on her. That's what we did when we visited family without a high chair. We fed him first and just sat him in a regular chair. Then when he was done, we put him down so we could eat.

No. We've traveled a lot with our LOs and I would never have thought to bring a travel high chair.

my in-laws have a cheap booster at their house for when we visit. we picked a design that should last until he can sit in a chair independently. But when we have gone other places, he gets to have "a picnic on the floor" which he LOVES!!

You can also order things (snacks, formula, diapers, wipes) and have then delivered to your destination. That way you don't have to pack them in your bag. We did this in July for my daughter who was about 14 months at the time.
