We buy a lot of household supplies in bulk: toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, dish soap, and dishwasher tablets through Amazon Subscribe and Save since we don't have a car (otherwise I'd go to costco!).

Not at the moment. But we are considering getting a costco membership now that we have a baby on the way. It didn't seem worth it for just two of us.

We get all those things at Costco. In fact, we shop so much there that they gave us an executive membership. We also buy pasta, rice and flour there, and some of Lala's school snacks (dried apples, Babybel cheeses, etc)
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
We don't because there is only the two of us. I don't think it would be beneficial, but I've never checked into it.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Toilet Paper, toothpaste, paper towels, & deodorant. Stuff that doesn't expire and I know we will use one after another!

@Leialou: @MamaMoose: We did even before LO! Things like TP never go bad and with meat we just portion it in meal sizes and throw up in the freezer.

The non-perishables....toilet paper (we once had over 40 rolls because we kept forgetting we had some already, and kept buying more), paper towels, disposable cleaning wipes, contact solution, tampons, vitamins, tums. And sometimes perishables, but long-term ones like...quinoa (very cheap at costco), cereal, oatmeal packets, granola bars, gum. we also buy electronics there sometimes, like cameras. oh and things like socks and sports bras. I LOVE COSTCO because of the free samples they give out. it really works too. i love their crab dip and i buy it all the time now because of one sample that i had.

I rarely go to the grocery store...only if I need something specific for a recipe that costco doesn't carry...or i go to the Asian market
I also get LO's gdiapers (flushable inserts) in bulk bc most websites will offer free shipping and a discount if you order by tr case...best deals so far have been from diapers.com but I may do amazon subscribe and save starting this month.

@Mrsdaredevil: OMG your hubs works for Costco?! Are there any secrets or insider tips you can give us
We pretty much buy all of our non-perishables from Costco and party food. We also got our living room sofa/chairs set from Costco, too. Occasionally, I'll get fruits and veggies there, but with so many cheap ethnic markets nearby, I rarely do (unless I'm lazy). Cherries were 2 lbs/$5.99 at Costco and were only 79 cents/lb at the local ethnic market.

The rest of what we need can be bought at Trader Joe's or Safeway (for gas rewards).

@mrs. wagon: hahaha!!
I wish costco sold more organic things like coffee, meat and produce, As it is we now buy very little from them. Mostly just household stuff like paper towels and toilet paper.

Yep! I practically live at Costco! Main things we get there are eggs, milk, bread, fruit, paper towels, toilet paper, detergent, and plates.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@mrs. wagon: do y'all buy that every week or do you look to see what you are out of and get that?
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@Jennimac: oh of course not... haha... those are just the things we purchase at Costco. I keep a running list of what we're running out of each week. The only thing we tend to buy weekly is bananas and some sort of meat... everything else is probably about once a month. We also wait for coupons and stock up when those come up... every time there's a coupon for baby wipes, I get the max of 2 boxes each week!
pomegranate / 3414 posts
We have both a Sam's club and Costco memberships so we buy a lot of stuff there. We really like Costco for meat. We buy diapers and wipes from Amazon Subscribe and Save because we found that to be the cheapest option.
