Movies for me are a special treat, we rarely go. So I don't mind going all out and buying a snack.

We'll buy one large soda to share and sneak snacks in in my purse. Movie concessions are SO expensive.

Our theater is next to target, so we grab candy, snacks & drinks on our way and sneak it in! So much cheaper! It's $1 at target for a box of candy that costs $4 at the theater. A regular sized bottle of Dasani is $3.75, you can get a whole case for around that! Such a rip off

Where I live, going to the movies even in the evenings is only $4 a ticket. I have no problem buying some popcorn and a drink when the movie is so inexpensive, but we don't always. Now when we are talking $8+ a ticket elsewhere, I am far less inclined to. We really don't go to the movies that much though.

I always get popcorn and a drink. I've never liked candy at the movie... That's easier to sneak in than popcorn

I will usually skip snacks. Occasionally I will sneak something in my purse. I always carry water though, so I at least have that!

Same as artbee. We don't go to movies often so when we do we are go all out and buy popcorn and a diet coke. How the heck do you smell at that delicious popcorn and not buy some?

@rawrasaur: wow! Our tickets are $11+! We have a second run theater that plays older movies on smaller screens that's less, but you can watch most of the movies on DVD by the time they get to that theater.
I like to get a pretzel, overpriced but delicious! We bring drinks in my purse : )

I guess I'm the fattie here. Our movie theater has several food places so we eat dinner during the movie then I usually want popcorn and a soda. I love movie theater popcorn and usually bring the rest home for the cats.

@mrs. bird: There are two major theaters in the area and both have the same low prices. We don't have any "dollar theaters" with old movies in the area.
I actually just checked online because we don't go often- it is $4 before 6pm and $6.50 after - but they have student ticket prices and while I'm not a student anymore I still have my id and can get it. I'm not sure how much off it is because they don't put it online.

Never, I'm just way too cheap to spend like 6 bucks on something I can get for a dollar at the super market.

My husband usually gets popcorn. We like to go on the first showing of the day and get $5 tickets. We also love to go to the theater where you can buy dinner and drinks during the show.

Man, we haven't gone to a movie in so long... I usually sneak in chocolate/candy/pop, but always buy a popcorn (insisting that they butter and salt it halfway through before filling it the rest of the way...). Mmm.

We go so rarely that we splurge a little when we do, usually a large popcorn/soda to split. The theater by us is pretty reasonable, though...two tickets+snacks is usually right under $20.

I am not a fan of popcorn, but DH always gets popcorn. I usually get raisinets!

We have a theater here that has a package deal that includes 2 tickets, 2 medium drinks and a large popcorn for $24 so yes every time!

We hardly go to the movies anymore so when we do, we do buy concessions. Usually a popcorn & drink combo to share.

We buy a refillable bucket for popcorn that is useable for 3-4 months (two times per day). I think it is like 25 bucks.

@MrsH: I thought it was pretty good, not predictable! At least not for me, haha. And refilable popcorn bucket? I've never heard of such a thing here in Chicago, but I would be all over that!

We went with a big group last night and those of us with purses brought in the drinks we got at the dollar store and the guys had to not make weird noises with their candy. I'm not paying $12 for a drink and some popcorn when I can get the drink for $1 and a bag of peanut M&M's for $1.
Sometimes we'll cave and buy popcorn, but not if we've just eaten out prior to going.

No, we never do. The movie theater concessions are way too expensive. Plus, I hate the noise of people eating during movies! It drives me crazy!

Rarely, mostly because we're cheap and DH doesn't like popcorn very much (which totally boggled my mind when he caved and bought triple chocolate popcorn from our little Cub Scout neighbor).

All the men in my husband's family have this thing where they have to have their own drink and popcorn at the theater!!! Drives me crazy. Whatever, I make him share with me.
