I did every year until we had Olive. Hopefully I get back to the gift giving because I really enjoy it, but it's just tough trying to come up with a thoughtful gift so many times a year when my time is so much more limited now.

I usually buy my mom a new book for her Kindle from her wish list for Mother's Day/her birthday and something quirky and geeky for Christmas (like a TARDIS mug).

I do but Christmas is easy now. Every year I make my parents and my in laws a shutterfly book of the year.

Anything baby related is a win with my mom and MIL. For Mother's Day, we are going to order them customized mugs from Walgreens that look blank but show a collage of photos when hot liquid is in them. Here's the link:

Yep. All 3. Even though my mom makes it near impossible. She refuses to tell anybody what she wants and she doesn't really have any hobbies so we are almost always at a loss. Usually we end up BEGGING my dad for some ideas that he has to pull out of his memory bank of "she mentioned this a few months ago... try that?". lol. Oh well! Its the thought right?
My dad is usually pretty easy. He has a list of interests and if it falls under one of those, you are golden!
For my in-laws we usually just send them some money toward a gift they pick out on their own. I think it is super weird but that is what they want so, whatevs. Easier on us!

Yep! I love buying gifts for my parents. We have always done gifts for everything. The IL get Christmas and bdays. DH doesn't want to start for anything else for them. Which I am ok with since Christmas and bdays are hard enough to think of something.

Absolutely. I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't (besides religious reasons). They spoil us on all gift giving holidays so naturally we return the favor.

I do. I think it's easier now with lo because if I lack for an idea I can give a photobook of her, have her paint a frame and put her picture in it, etc. My mom loves that stuff.

yes, we do for all - well we will probably do many handmade things now that LO is here but we definitely give gifts 
it's also easier because the ILs don't celebrate any holidays, so only one side to plan for

I used to for Mother's Day (something small) and of course, always Christmas. Sometimes her B-day, but I a=was traveling every summer for so long, I just usually brought her back a nice gift from wherever I was and gave it to her as a belated Bday gift.
Then last year, I didn't travel, and Mom didn't get a Mother's day OR bday gift! I suck. But I always make sure to call at the very least.
I love getting my mom jewelry, since my dad used to get it for her and he passed away when I was in college. So she's gotten Amber earrings from Chiapas, mexico; jade earrings from Guatemale, silver bracelet from Oaxaca, Mexico; cute purses from India, a nice watch from Europe, etc.
And to make up for the no Bday gifts this year, I spent double on her christmas present. I *heart* my mom. I want to be just like her when I grow up, so I like to give her stuff she wouldn't buy herself.

We mostly just get them gifts now From: DD, and most have been somehow picture themed. Our lo is the first grandchild, so it works for now, but we will likely go back to getting them regular gifts

Cards for birthdays, gifts for everything else (Mother's/Father's Day, Christmas). DH doesn't exchange gifts with his parents..just not a tradition in their family.

Yep! Our parents do so much for us, even now when we're miles and miles apart. Our gifts are just a small reminder we still appreciate them!

I can't imagine not getting my parents presents. I let my husband take care of the presents for his side though. It's not my fault that he forgets every year. My parents still go above and beyond in our lives and Santa still brings us presents so I'd feel like a jerk if I didn't get them anything. That and I love shopping for them!

Yes, we do Christmas, birthdays and mothers/fathers day. Sine having LO, Mothers/fathers day has been scaled back to flowers and a card or something of that nature.

It probably sounds bad, but I only get my Dad a bday present, not my mom. Both (plus ILs) get cards on Mothers day/Fathers day, and all of them get presents for Christmas, although I think with LO being here this year that might have to change... at least on my Dad's side. He's re-marrying and his fiancee has 3 kids + 2 (soon to be 3) grandkids....I don't have the budget for all of them! lol!

I always buy Christmas gifts. My mom prefers mother/daughter time for Mother's Day and her birthday though. So, instead of presents we spend the day together or go on a mini road trip.

@mrbee: yep he still comes! And he's awfully generous. I really hope he never stops lol. And we all sleepover Christmas eve, and wake up at 6am to my dad playing his trumpet letting us know we can come out of our rooms. And then we have piles of presents and our stockings in our spots.
I've never asked if they were open to adoption lol. But if youre ever in Utah for Christmas we will make sure santa finds you.

I try so hard to remember to get my parents gifts. My inlaws have told my husband not to spend our money on them so, we don't. My parents do so much for us, though I couldn't imagine not doing little things for them. For Easter, as an example, I'm sending them a framed photo of them and our daughter. It's just a little thing but it's something to let them know I'm thinking of them.
