I'm curious how many HB-ers regularly color their hair. If you do, what color and do you get it done professionally or DIY at home?
I've only colored my hair once (by someone in beauty school) and it turned out AWFUL so I haven't tried it since, although I think I might try to add some reddish highlights this spring/summer.

Never! My DH loves my hair color and would be upset if I colored it.

I dyed my hair when I was 12 and I found it just way too annoying to maintain... plus it looked horrid lol. I let the colour grow out and cut my hair chin length (which sucked because I had hip length hair which took me 7 years to grow back.)
I have used henna in my hair, but the result was much less dramatic and it faded over time. I'd do that again, but it took waaay too much work for my long hair haha!

Nope! Did highlights once and it took way too much money to maintain, so I'm perfectly happy with my natural color. I dyed it back to my natural color, but I just don't like what bleach or dye does to my hair.

I started getting grey hair in my early 20's and at this point, I'm about 60% grey and 40% dirty blonde. I finally got tired of the greys so I started dying my hair a light brown. I like it but man, it is a PAIN to keep up!

Nope. I used to get highlights but i sucked at keeping them. I only go to the hair dresser like twice a year and am way too cheap to pay for regular upkeep!

@pui I've never thought about henna for hair! That sounds like a great alternative.
@char54 @farmwifegina Cost is my main concern, too. I don't mind paying to have it done once, but to keep going back...meh.

Yes religiously, I do professional (my sister) and she uses Paul Mitchell color. I have a case of early gray, so I need too!

My hair has been pretty much every color under the sun. I do generally get it professionally done, but recently I have done it myself. I can't justify spending $100 to get my hair done. I do love going to the salon though.

Oh yeah! Every 6 to 8 weeks.
My daughters step mom is licensed and does all of our hair.
I get highlights while pregnant as it's not as much on the head and all that.
I usually do full color and hi and lo lights when not pregnant.

I love my natural color (dark red), but I usually put in some lowlights myself with Natural Instincts temporary (20 something washes) to get some variations in color. I used the "Spiced Tea" color. I haven't done it since we started TTC though.
