Do you compost?

We do! DH likes our garden to be organic, so we compost instead of using Miracle Gro!

Yep, we have 2 bins. But it's DH's domain. That stuff kind of scares me.

Compost is part of our weekly waste collection!
Garbage every other week, recyclables and compost (food waste!) each week. We live in a subdivision and so composting wouldn't work well here (poor existing soil quality, lack of space, etc!) so out it goes weekly and then our municipality hosts compost days every so often where we can go and collect ready compost for our gardens!

Nope. I would if we didn't have so many wild animals around, but I don't need to start a bear problem in my backyard. The raccoons would be all over it immediately.

We do. We live in an apt building, so we can't use the compost ourselves, but our local farmer's market has a collection every weekend. We keep it in the freezer in a 184 oz tupperware with a flip lid lined with a plastic grocery bag, and drop off a big brick of frozen scraps every Sunday. I love it, DH tolerates it. Until we're out of town one weekend and our freezer is full off compost!

Nope, but we easily could I think. We just never thought about it.

DH is scheming to build a DIY compost bin of some kind. Right now we're using the previous owners' raised weed bed (I suppose it was a garden bed at some point, haha) to start the compost pile.

@Beebug: that is so cool! I wish more cities would collect compost waste.
I would compost but alas we live in an apartment with no outdoor space. If someday we have a place with a balcony or a deck or better yet, a terrace, I will definitely compost.

My parents/family always did growing up! We don't right now but it's something that I'd love for us to start doing.

I don't but my parents do. I don't even know how I would get started. I would love to though. I plan on starting a garden next summer!

It's illegal in my area. My husband would really love to start composting and gardening once we move to a new location, though!

My work composts. A lot of businesses compost in Seattle.
I want to compost but the DH won't let me. We live in an apartment so we don't have a yard. We would have to get those worms that break down compost. DH didn't like the idea of having worms in a Rubbermaid container underneath our kitchen sink. I could sepearate out our compost but I would have to drive it 15 minutes to get rid of it.
Thinking about it, 15 minutes isn't that bad. I could put my compost out on the porch until I can drop it off.

I started this spring. It's amazing how much stuff fits in there. Hopefully I'll get some good dirt in the spring for my garden!

@Honeybee: Illegal seriously? Don't lawmakers have more important things to do than tackle composting?!

@Chastenet: We live in an area that has a ton of environmental protection laws, lol, so no they have nothing better to do than regulate our composting.
