I plan on doing some cooking when I visit parents because my dad is on a special diet for his health issues and I don't want to eat the same stuff.

I probably would now that I have kids since I know what they like to eat and want to make sure it is healthy.

Yep. I cooked (almost) all of DD's meals when visiting my parents and inlaws.

dh does almost all the cooking when we're at his parents', with his mom sometimes cooking with him, but usually he takes over (he's an alpha cook and gets really bossy in the kitchen!) and at my parents' he and my dad usually cook together. though, the last time I was there dh wasn't, so I cooked a meal for them with my dad as my "sous chef."

I'll cook whatever at my parents house. At my in-laws, I help cook by cutting up vegetables or something but probably wouldn't actually think of something I wanted to make and do the entire thing myself.

I usually cook at least one or two meals for the whole family when I'm at home visiting. I also prep LO's meals if she can't eat with the rest of us while there.
