I just joined My Fitness Pal with a couple of my coworkers, and I find it very interesting to actually see what I'm eating!
I wonder if pound cake batter is listed on there anywhere

Nope. I'm mindful of what I eat & try to make good choices but if I wanna eat something, I'm gonna eat it no matter how many gazillion calories it is.

I did when I finally got serious about losing weight! I used LoseIt and it helped me lose 35 pounds. Mostly helped me realize how out of control my portion sizes were and that I was snacking wayyy too much. Now I can maintain a healthy weight without counting calories.

Nope but I'm breastfeeding. I used to & dropped about 40lbs but I still wasn't eating as healthy as I could have been. Now I eat about 90% whole foods & maybe 70% paleo. I still weigh the same but pretty much all my cellulite is gone!!!

@littlecasita1122: I used Lose it too! My mom also used it & lost 80 pounds!

No. It doesn't really jive with my food philosophy. I try to eat healthy, real foods and follow the everything in moderation approach. It's been working well for me thus far!

Yes I do, mainly for the accountability. I also like how MFP breaks things down so you can see how much protein/carbs/fat you're taking in.

No, in the past it's led me to disorder town! When I'm not bf-ing, I do eat mindfully and healthfully most of the time, though.

Nope! I'm breast feeding and pregnant though haha, I can't eat enough! Even when I'm not doing either, I just try to be mindful of what I'm eating. I'll read lots of labels but not count daily.

I should...
ETA: I wonder if you can link MFP to Fitbit? MFP has a way better food database.

@Espion: I think you can. I don't have a fit bit but I thought I saw something about that the last time my mfp app updated.

Nope! I did in the past though and lost 50 pounds through that and exercise. I focus more on whole foods and moderation now.

@jhd: Awesome! I looked it up and you can. I logged my food for today and it said I would gain three pounds in 5 weeks.

Not right now, but I think counting calories is a great way to lose weight and learn how to eat. It has definitely worked for me in the past.

@Espion: ugh! I hate when it tells me things like that! But glad you got it to work!!

@coopsmama: Agree!
All calories are not created equally, so the system doesn't make any sense to me.

Yes i do. It helped me to be accountable to myself. I usually just follow my hunger and eat mindfully, and track everything at the end of the day. Knowing i have to track it cuts back on the random eating which is tempting being home all day long. Ive lost 30 lbs, so i do think that it has helped me stay consistent.

I do sometimes, usually about once every couple weeks I'll track for a full day. Makes me more mindful of what I put in my mouth!

I tried, but I found it too difficult to try to figure out how many calories were in meals I was cooking based on how many oz of meat or veggies I used (I had no idea!) so I gave up.

Yep! I also track grams of carbs, protein, and fat because I don't buy into the "a calorie is a calorie" philosophy.

I do, but I don't treat it like the end all of healthy eating - calories from salmon and avocados are totally different from Big Mac calories, although they both show up as "x # of calories" and count against your total. I do find it helpful in making choices, though, and keeping myself in check generally.
