I live on the west coast and my whole family lives on the east coast. I probably see my mom 3 times a year. Well, she came for a last minute trip this weekend and saying goodbye was so hard! Even though I will see her at Xmas, I couldn't help but cry when we said our goodbyes.
Am I the only cry baby?

I cry when my sister leaves- she lives in Florida and the rest of our fam lives in the Pac NW. I'm sorry 
it's so hard to be away from the ones you love.

No I get really teary too. I try my best not to cry because if I start crying my mom will cry too.

Nope-I get like this sometimes, too. I've also been known to cry on the phone when I am really missing her...

I have, but not lately. But I live much closer so that makes it easier (4-5 hour drive, not cross country flight).
@LovelyPlum: This is what makes me a little glad I have a daughter. I would have been totally thrilled with either, but we know girls have a special bond with their mom! At least, I hope we will!

I have cried and we only lived just over an hour apart. It was recently so pregnancy hormones probably made it worse.

We're only an hour away from my parents, but I would definitely cry if they were that far away. A girl needs her mom!

I don't cry anymore. When I first moved away 5 years ago we both cried every time we said goodbye to one another.

You're not alone- when I only saw my parents a few times a year I always cried on the way home or after they left. Now I see them every week, so I def don't cry then!

Everytime. My fam is AT LEAST 1000 miles away...some are 3000. we are seeing everyone at Thanksgiving for the first time in at least a year. This time I will peobably cry when I see them, too!!

@chopsuey: I know. That's why she took a taxi to airport web when I insisted I drive her. Then DH told me to let it go because its easier for her emotionally that way Wahhhh!
@MrsF: I think being so far apart is the best thing for our relationship (we used to fight a lot!) because I appreciate her much more now and she picks on me less.
And there's nothing better than moms home coked food

I get to see my parents kind of a lot so not usually. When dd was born and my mom flew in to see us I did. Between the overwhelming transition, ppd, and thinking "I'm really supposed to do this alone?!!" I just broke down.

Yup! My mom lives 800 miles away and we only see her twice a year maybe. I cry every time she leaves.

@luckypenny: yes! when i visit my family in california (which isn't that often), it is always so hard to leave...my family is coming to visit me in the east coast this christmas and i'm so excited for their visit!

I only see my parents 2-3 times a year, and I definitely cry every time they leave Especially now that I have DD - it makes me extra sad that they don't get to see her :'(

Always! I am super close to my parents but we live a 2 hour plane ride apart... it's even worse now that M is here.

Nope! I'm kind of relieved when they leave. LOL!! I LOVE my parents, but they're always criticising or questioning my parenting skills. I get anxious when they say they're coming, but I love when they come so it's like I'm bipolar. Ha!

I have major issues with this and tend to cry when my parents leave. I feel like the 12 year old crying when being dropped off at sleepaway camp all over again (yes, I was that kid)!
Even though my family is not that far away (about a 2.5 hour drive), we don't see them very often and usually end up going to visit them at their home. I get very upset when we leave their house because often my mom will say something to the baby like "oh, we're so sad we won't get to see you for so long." I cry out of anger because if they were really sad, they could get in the car and come visit us! They have not been very involved as grandparents and I cry because so much time goes by in between visits with LO.

Sometimes. I hardly see them and the plane trip takes what feels like forever (although I suppose we are a little closer now). 6-7 hours of flight time but no direct flights.

Always. Especially now that I've had DS...I feel even closer to them before, which makes leaving that much harder!
