I eat unhealthy foods that I tell the kids are bad for them like cup o noodles, soda, etc.
Do you do anything that you tell your kids not to do?

Hahaha just eating junk food! I tell DD "dessert is a sometimes food. We don't need it every day" but I totally make myself a mug cake during her nap pretty much every day. I don't feel that bad since I'm at least trying to develop good habits for her even if I am not super good about it for myself.

Yes. I pick my nose (TISSUES JUST DON'T GET IT SOMETIMES, OK?!) and N catches me and shakes his finger at me. Oops. I'm a bad influence.

Lately I've been eating cadburry eggs, but we tell her and she knows and is okay with the reality that, "some things are for kids, some things are for parents."
I'm not telling her not to, but am also not giving them to her.

Not really. I don't want to set my kids up to just go nuts on the 'bad' things when they grow up and leave my house. But mostly, I just don't make anything 'bad'. There are no bad foods in my house. I don't keep soda and candy around, and my kids know that sugar makes your body feel funny, so those things are really rare sometimes treats. It's the same with all 'bad' food - anything 'bad' we keep around the house they know it needs to be eaten in moderation and combined with other foods that better fuel your body.
Stuff like screen time is the same - they all get reasonable amounts, just like I allow myself. I make sure that we all get ample time to play and to move, and then screen time is another fun way to relax. Nothing is 'bad', we just talk a lot about ALL the things our bodies need, and how we have to do them all to feel great.
I think that telling kids 'some things are just for parents' does a really poor job of setting them up to properly self regulate as adults. I'd way rather say yeah, have a piece of candy with your dinner, just make sure you eat your protein and veggies. That's how I treat candy, and it's how I hope they grow up to as well. Just telling them no, not for you, doesn't teach that message at all.
