I did this today at a birthday party, and felt a weird combo of emotions... pride at catching it, and shame at having to. Thank goodness this scene happened in the bathroom, and at the end of the party.
Anyone else play catcher to your LO's throwup?

Ugh, I did this once. Miraculous save of our freshly cleaned duvet cover, so it really was amazing... And I paid for it by getting very very sick a few days later! Good job (and may you avoid the sick with impeccably washed hands!)
I showered but it wasn't enough to save myself!

Yup numerous times when she was younger! Yikes at a party though. Is he OK?

@mrbee: Lol!!! Oh the talent!!! Catching vomit is much harder than balls!

Hahaha. I guess my mom wasn't good at this. I remember being in the middle of telling her I thought I was going to throw up and she was rushing towards me as I barfed on the carpet/wall!

So many times. DS gets car sick often (once a month or so). The look on his face gives me a warning and I know it's time to pull over or get in the back with him. I've caught it in a bag twice!

That was me a few times on Friday.
And by Sunday I was sick myself. Hope you're able to stay healthy!

@Boogs: @Mrs. Jacks: Charlie hasn't been sick... he did eat way too much cake and macaroons at the party though! I scrubbed up a bunch afterward... hopefully it was enough!!

@mrbee: that sounds way more promising than when I caught exorcist baby's vomit
blogger / pomegranate / 3300 posts
Yep, several times. It is so gross. I caught it my shirt once but then couldn't quite figure out where to go from there.

@Mrs. Jacks: Here is the source of Charlie's pleasure and my pain:

I've caught my son's vomit numerous times....my DH thinks it's so gross, but what am I gonna do? Just let him vomit all over himself and his surroundings?
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@Mrs. Train: yeah, you can't just whip the shirt off at that point!

@mrbee: I'm glad that was the picture on this thread! I was a little scared when I saw the title and that there were photos attached (but yet I still opened it!)

@mrbee: wow! What a spread! Might cause me to throw up too!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@mrbee: Wow what a spread, no wonder he got sick! Looks like it was a great party, though.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: it was an awesome spread!! Charlie just needs to learn moderation ha... and actually, it was all totally my fault for not watching more closely what he was eating!
He actually threw up at his last birthday party, so you'd think we'd learn from that... guess it took two times for the lesson to sink in!

@mrbee: oh my gosh that food looks delish!
I have caught baby spit up, but not actual food vomit yet.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
I haven't caught vomit .. yet.
The thought's never crossed my mind actually. I knew my LO was going to throw up one day, so I just let her on her bed (I have waterproof cover underneath her sheets). I totally could have caught it if I wanted to though...

@chopsuey119: Charlie is a serial vomiter... we've had a lot of practice catching it!

@mrbee: is it super gross that I clicked on this thread because there was a pic?
The spread looks amazing!! And good job catching the vomit!

@mrbee: I was a little worried to click on this thread when I saw the photo icon next to it. I am glad that the photo is not of you catching Charlie's vomit!

@Sammyfab: me too! Mostly I was morbidly curious about what the photo could possibly be with that title. Yikes.

Umm...wow. I didn't read the responses but @mrbee, you are SO hardcore!!!

@Sammyfab: @lawbee11: @JessiBee: @mamabolt: you guys are crazy to click on a photo post thinking it might be vomit haha!!
Although I'd probably do it too, now that you mention it!
honeydew / 7687 posts
@mamabolt: haha I was thinking the exact same thing!
I doubt ill ever be able to.... As of now any time he open air pees I instantly duck out of the way while DH blocks it with his hand haha.
My mom magically conditioned me to only be sick in a toilet... I've never thrown up anywhere else! Hoping to pass that on to LO.

LO is only 5 months, so I haven't had the pleasure yet. But I used to work in a daycare & one evening a co-workers young son was about to throw up on the floor I'd just mopped & I caught that. Everyone thought I was nuts, but it was seriously just a reflex! Vomit & poop don't bother me, but I can't handle blood & wounds!
blogger / pomegranate / 3300 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: oh yeah, it was awful. I couldn't figure out how to get the shirt off without getting vomit everywhere. Plus the sick kid was still sitting with me. I did save the couch though!
