He knows better than that. Kidding DH will go to a movie every once in a while with a friend or something. He went to a wedding when LO was younger so he left me alone for the weekend, but my mom lives close so she stayed with us.

I recently saw Les Mis with my parents. I knew DH wouldn't like it and I really really wanted to see it. Usually my "me" time is massages, but that's more for my health than fun because I get severe migraines.

Also baby and wedding showers tend to be at LO's nap time so I am usually baby free for those, but it's not hard for DH because LO is napping.

Yeah definitely. I have maintained my social life pretty well because DH absolutely does a big share. But, with our LO being so young, I do a MUCH bigger share than he does.
Mostly, we do things together that are relaxing at home after DS goes to sleep. Order in, rent movies, work-out, all that.

@artbee: Is it just me or do LOs nap every time its dad's turn? Seriously, every time I go out, it just so happens to be during a nap. When I come back DH is like, "oh, he didn't even wake up once!". Ugh....urgggh!!!!!!

I plan on it. My time with girlfriends is something I really value, whether it is lunch, dinner, or pedicures. I do it now, and DH knows that it isn't going to change once she is here. Plus I think that it will be good for him to have time along with her, esp on weekends when he is traveling during the week.

I do ask to have time for me once in a while,a nd I have been out of town twice since having 2 kids - for wedding on my own and for a girls weekend. It was a major production both times, and my entire family "rallied" behind DH and made dinners and helped babysit. He on the other hand will just "inform" me when he has something to do, and it annoys the heck out of me when he doesn't ask. I don't mind if he has things he wants to do (I hardly ever say no), but I was just like him ask since that shows me that he was at least thinking about the impacts (only because I know that he often does not). My BFF said that I need to just demand the time instead of "asking".

I've been too tired to wanna go out, but I used to go get pedis, my hair done and shopping before baby 2 arrived.
Neither of us go out on our own much. Dh travels so when he comes home he likes to chill.
I plan on locking myself in our room and sleeping while dh watches the kids one of these days.

This is a two way street in our house. We both take time out to do stuff alone, and on top of that we get a babysitter at least once a month to go out together.

@Mr.Bee: hahaha, I totally make plans and inform DH too.

@artbee, @turtledoves: I used to get totally annoyed when DS would nap the ENTIRE time I was out, then I got the dreaded phone call one night during a dinner out, and I realized that it's much, much easier if they sleep...hehehe

Yes we usually ask each other, but honestly I never leave the house. I had plans tomorrow which I was super excited about, but DH has to work and my mom said she would babysit, but now kids with the flu will also be at my moms so now I'm stuck at home again. Hopefully I can ask DH to babysit a night this week so I can go out!

Sometimes...we have fewer friends as the years pass on lol. Maybe because we don't want to leave each other alone with the kids? We do give each other alone time though. Sometimes, I'll leave to get coffee and read a book. Or he'll have an extra nap or something.

Only once for a girl's night and then the last few months for prenatal yoga once a week. Then again, I watch LO when DH plays soccer every week so I don't feel bad about it.

I really want both of us to be able to do things with our friends. I think it's good for our sanity. Also, I want to make myself leave so that we don't fall into the trap of me being the primary caregiver and DH watching the baby once in a while.

Rarely. I've gone out twice since she was born - lunch and a book club. As she gets older and I'm no longer breastfeeding, this may happen more often.

Yeah, all the time. I mean, we're both her parents so I dont think it's any big deal. I've gone to hang with my sister for a day, or to get a mani/pedi. Granted, he hasn't done much on his own on weekends but thats mainly because his friends live farther away.

Baby B is 6 weeks old and the only place Ive been without him and my partner is Walmart. HaHa.

Now that B is not as needy i have made some plans to go out with the girls. I am going to dinner Tuesday night and i bought tix to see Coheed and Cambria.

All the time. This stay at home mother needs baby free time to recharge. My husband goes out but rarely.

We both do! I let DH know if I've made girls night out plans and he does the same. DH actually planned a 4 day snowboard trip which ended up getting cancelled cause it conflicted with a bachelor party trip for a friend. If it didn't conflict he would have been gone for 4 days for snowboarding plus another 4 days in Montreal for the bachelor party trip. I tell him he's lucky I'm nice! Lol.
