We have several friends with LO's our LO's age. One of them is way more advanced than our LO and one is not quite as advanced as our LO. I know every baby is different but it is hard not to compare sometimes! Anyone else feel this way?

I don't feel the need to compare-compare but I do notice the differences of other LOs who are doing certain things that my LO isn't doing, or vice versa. BUT, I have an acquaintance who compares out loud - but of how great her kid is how mine is lagging behind. It's sooooo annoying and awkward!

I think it's natural to compare. I think how you handle the comparison is the important part. My kids all walked extremely early (all four started between 8 and 10 months). People asked me all the time how old they were and how they couldn't believe they walking. I had tons of mom friends start worrying about their little ones. I had to constantly reassure them that mine were very early and theirs were just fine. I think if you see other meeting milestones it's fine to wonder when yours will do the same it's not healthy for you or baby to start worrying about it.

@Rubies: oh wow that is annoying and kind of rude! I always just keep the thoughts to myself and sometimes talk to DH about it.
@Mrs. Train: that's great that they were walking so early I don't really let it get to me, I just get curious and end up thinking about it a little more

I compare.... But not in a judgy kind of way. My lo was a late walker, she didn't walk until 17 months. So yes, I looked at other babies her age that were walking way way before her. But it didn't bother me..... I liked that my lo was a baby longer and not a toddler yet

I try not to since my son was born 6 weeks early and it isn't really fair to compare him to LOs born around the same time.

I do, but I don't like to. I think as a first time mom it's hard not to. In my head I know that developing differently is normal, but sometimes it's hard to dial back the crazy.
