I do, all the time! Especially now that I am always carrying a baby around people are like "Is she yours? You are SO young!"
If you do, do you take it as an insult or a compliment? I am 24 and I find it insulting...

This happens to me all the time. Everyone says I'll appreciate it when I'm 40. I don't mind too much. It is tiring to hear the same thing over and over again though.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: don't be insulted, you'll LOVE it someday
I get carded a lot - favorite was when security walked across the casino to double check my ID, hehe - and I'm always flattered! I'm 32 and starting to get some crows feet so I soak it up every time, haha

when my friend & i had a spa day recently, the staff thought we were much younger. not 16, but 19/20, which we will happily take at 28! i think it was because we weren't made up and we were dressed super casual.

I'm 24 too and people always think I look so young. I find it really frustrating for work. I go into businesses looking for the owner, and everyone assumes I am there to apply for a job and that I'm a high school student. Drives me nuts! A couple years ago (I was 22) someone asked me "Are you 15, or 16?" Like there was only two possible ages I could be. Ugh!

I used to. But now that I'm almost 30 apparently I'm starting to look old LOL It's now become a compliment if I get carded!

Yes. Although I've had people say 14...
But when they talk to me on the phone, or email, or are judging by anything other than how I look, they usually guess 27-35.
I'm 22.

All the time. People always comment that I look too young to have two kids. Most people think I'm in my early 20's (I'm 27), but I take it as a compliment. My mom always gets told the same thing, so I feel kind of proud that we share our young looks.

Not 16, but sometimes 18. Close enough.
I'm 30 and I work at a university. People (parents and students) often ask me, "So what are you studying?" Even when I had my bump!

people always assume I'm much younger than I am. I'm 28, and most people guess me to be 20ish, if that. I've even had a patient at work refuse to let me start her IV because she didn't believe I was "old enough". I used to find it really irritating, but now I'm starting to reach the point where it's kind of flattering. I guess that means I'm getting old...

all the time. Im 29, almost 30, and people always tell me I look 18. I went to the police station a few months ago to pick up a copy of an accident report. I gave the lady my name and the number, and she asked the type of car. I told her, and she goes "oh! Its in your dad's name, thats why I didnt see yours." I was like "ummm...its mine and my husband's name" and she looked shocked and goes "highschool sweethearts?" I wsa so insulted and said "actually no, we met 6 years ago our first year out of college. Now we have a baby. Im 29." Sometimes people are taken aback that Im 29 but they arent rude about it or are like "great genes!" but this lady was so rude.

heh yes.
a few months after I was married, a salesman came to my door and asked if my parents were home. When I said I was the adult of the house he stuttered and said, "oh I'm sorry ma'am, I just thought you were some high school cheerleader."
yeah... nice save buddy needless to say I didn't buy anything of his.
Another time a UPS man came to the door and asked me if I was old enough to sign for the package real funny.
Now that I have a baby I actually get asked that less often. I can only think of one time since I've had him.

Yup! Just the other day a woman said I looked 17 and it was so funny to see my carrying a baby . Grrrr

I don't even though I do look young, But my DH does all the time, he gets pretty mad and finds it insulting (he's 28) he gets carded to buy spray paint!

Nope! When I was in my late 20's people always thought I was at least 5 years younger than I really was.
I feel like I look 32 now, but some say I look like I'm in my mid-late 20s.

People do tell me I look like a teenager and inquire how my (insert holiday or occasion) break is going! While I find it flattering, I haven't had a school break in over 6 years!! Or when they see me working at my shop, they shake their heads in pity and said I should have finished school. Um, I did finish school. I have my bachelor's degree people!!
eggplant / 11287 posts
Maybe when I am a bit older I will find it flattering. Now, I am still young enough that I want to look older! Haha funny how that works.

Yes. 2 years ago I got carded at the effing movie theatre (who sneaks into Death at a Funeral?!) and I was 25 at the time. I was PISSED.
This morning the lady at the Starbucks drive-thru called me "ma'am" though, so that made me happy!

story of my life... you should of seen the looks i would get when i was pregnant. im 25 and easily look like i can be in high school. its annoying.

Yup ā last summer on our honeymoon one lady asked if I was 19 (??!!!) She must have thought my husband was such a dirty old man perv!!
Last weekend I took LO to the University campus where my husband teachers since my husband had to be there for orientation and I walked around with her in the baby bjorn and got SO MANY dirty looks from parents and students touring the campus. I guess they thought I was some teenager with a baby. I wanted to yell āIām 31 people! 31! Married, graduated college, went to law school, have a career!ā

I get "young" comments frequently - I used to hate them and everyone would say "when you're 30 you'll appreciate those comments!" Now, I'm 32, and I appreciate them ; )
blogger / persimmon / 1220 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: It is funny how that works! When I was in my mid-20s starting my career, I desperately wanted to look older and create a boundary between myself and my students (since we were only a couple years apart). Now that I'm 30, I don't mind it AS much when people mistake me for a 20 year old! Hah.

I love it when people mistake me for someone younger!

UGH I hate this! I'm almost 28 years old and everyone always thinks I look way younger.
I work with a bunch of girls who are all younger than me (they're all about 24 or so) and everyone thought I was the youngest one. I just know that when I get pregnant/have a baby people are going to look at me like "oh dear that poor child has ruined her life"
AARG!
