The LO is sick so I just went in to make sure she is OK! Our video monitor only produces static and I had not seen her move in hours so I had to go in to be sure.

I commented on this earlier, but we have the motorola monitor and I can see his little chest rise so I don't feel the need to check all the time.

I used to do this all the time for Charlie!
I've gotten less paranoid over time though.

I check LO before I go to sleep. If I forget I have to get out of bed to do so.

@BabyBruins: I don't think I could ever see that level of detail with mine. She sleeps on her belly now but I can't see her back rising or anything. @mrbee: I am only worried since she is pretty sick!

Yes! When she was just 3-4 weeks old and slept her first stretch of 6 hours I went to her room and then touched her face bc she was so still and quiet. She was all swaddled up at the time do I couldn't tell if she was breathing...of course I felt silly afterwards but I had to touch her just to make sure

@andrea - I hope your LO feels better soon!!!
LO's shares a room with us so her crib is in our room. I check her at least once during the middle of the night when I get up to pee. During her naps in the daytime, I use the monitor to see if she is breathing since she is quite wakeful during naps. We have the Motorola monitor and can see her chest moving.

My lo is 12 days old and sleeps in a bassinet my my bed. I always wake up to check on her! She has yet to sleep in her room. My cousins baby died of sids at 7 weeks so we are a little paranoid.

Not unless he's sick. He's a light enough sleeper that he doesn't need to be disturbed with us walking into his room.

I used to do it every night before I went to bed because she was such a good sleeper but now she is teething badly so I don't risk it...plus I know she is breathing because she is always moving & waking up.

LOL well we have the angelcare monitor so I listen for the "tics" on the handheld to make sure she is breathing. But if shes in our bed (she comes in in the morning and usually falls back asleep) I touch her chest or look for her belly rising several times.
