Do you ever re-read books? There are a small handful that I've read several times, and probably will again at some point in the future. I'd really like to re-read Harry Potter from start to finish but that is a huge time commitment!!

I reread nearly all of the books I own - unless I just thought it was meh, everything I have has been read multiple times.
I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times I have read Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, Gone With the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, and a few other classics - I always pick up something new when I read me again and I love it!

@swedishfish: @Bao: Have you heard of Muggle Hustle? I don't keep up with it but my sister is obsessed. It's this 25 year old guy who is reading HP start to finish for the first time and he tweets as he goes. Some of his tweets are pretty hilarious. He also has them all compiled by book on his website.

Definitely! I've re-read lots of books, but off the top of my head I read the Harry potter books about a million times and I also read I Capture the Castle a ton of times. It is soooo good and romantic!

Not usually. HP is my exception too. I started rereading the first one a month or so ago but didn't finish. I really want to read them again before baby #2 gets here!

I love to re-read books! I find it very comforting. I worked overnight (in an ICU at a boston hospital) the night after the marathon bombings - it was a tough shift. The first thing I did when I got home was start re-reading the first HP book. I think I just needed to dive into something familiar.

I typically re-read Harry Potter once or twice a year, I will re-read the Anne of Green Gable series about once every 3-5 years, and if I read a series that is still coming out, I will re-read the previous books before reading the new ones.

Oh yeah, I'm a huge re-reader. I'm proud of myself actually, I've bought five new books for maternity leave! I usually just read what's on my shelf.... But I decided I deserved some new reading material

i never re-read books. i just can't. i guess, to me, reading a book is so time consuming and if i'm going to give up my time to read (i don't really see it as "giving up" but you know what i mean) then i want it to be for something new.

@bluestripedbee I am like that with tv shows! DH always remembers the bad guys on shows like NCIS so he won't re-watch them, but I forget & it's like a new show! Lol

There are a couple I reread (besides children's books). The Time Traveler's Wife, The Dark Tower series, The Hunger Games, most of Vonnegut and Tom Robbins, and HP. I want to reread HP from the start but I think I'm going to wait a few more years, until LO is older enough that I can start to read them to him (although that'll probably be a while, so maybe I'll read them once through in the interim).

Yes, all the time. Usually every summer I reread Harry Potter. I'm a teacher so I have extra time in the summer; that helps! One of my favorite authors, Sylvia Engdahl, I reread her books every few years. And Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy gets reread on a regular basis, too.

@mrsscb: I love the film I Capture the Castle, but have never read the book. I'll have to read it! Did you know Dodie Smith wrote the book 101 Dalmatians (which I have also never read)?

@Bookworm: I'm so jealous! There is nothing I love more than a new book! Brilliant idea stocking up on some new ones before your LO gets here - you will definitely deserve the reward! Everyone said I'd never have time to read once LO got here but I'm happy to say that was not the case. Reading was the best form of relaxation....ahh, I'm in the midst of a great book right now but I really want to go out and buy some new ones!

@bluestriped bee: haha, you aren't a dork, I'm the same way! I forget most of the book right after I finish it...so it really is like reading a new book every time lol! One nice thing about bad memories, we get a lot of replay action out of books!
@Ree723: ahh, that's good to hear! I've been picking up books on clearance and everyone thinks I'm being too optimistic about my reading time... Glad to hear reading is still possible!!

@Katrocap: I heard that, though I've never read 101 Dalmations either. Which is surprising because my little sister was obsessed with the movie and "dalmation doggies!" haha. You should definitely read "I Capture the Castle" -- so good!

I love to re-read books! Especially with classic books, I find that I get a lot more out of it when I read it a second (third, fourth) time. East of Eden is my favorite book and I've probably read it three or four times. I'm about due for another

I do! And the best part is I'll get so wrapped up in the story like it's the first time I'm reading it.

@bluestriped bee: Earlier this year I read The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It wasn't until the last chapter that I realized I had totally read that book before!

I only re-read HP books... like 1,000 times. I don't know if I'm more obsessed with Harry Potter or Friends...

@FutureMrsMcK: I reread The Time Traveler's Wife too! It's my favorite book. I just read it for probably the 15th time and bawled like it was the first time.
I like to reread my absolute favorite books, but there's nothing better than a brand new book!

I currently want to re-read To Kill a Mockingbird. I haven't read that in a while.
