I just heard Ann Perkins say "welp" on Parks & Recreation.
I don't really understand when to use welp:

Sometimes. Typically when something goes wrong, it's like "well, where do we go from here?"

All.the.time. but, most of the time it's when DH is being awkward (a lot...haha!) And I'll randomly respond with 'big gulps, eh? Welp..see ya later'

I find myself using it in writing more than actually speaking it. Same as "anywho..." Write it all the time, say it never.

I do. But the only time I can think that I use it is in "Welp, that sucks"... don't know why it is that specific phrase though. I blame my parents. lol
