I would feel pressure if I was a designer. Luckily I'm not!! HAHA. LO's nursery is .. not a nursery. I feel bad, but eh. She doesn't know the difference!

You know, the Internet makes it so hard to not want to make it super special. I decided to just do what I want with it and hope it ends up pretty. I am so not a designer.

You've seen mine. We went eclectic and with things we love... so I didn't care if it looked perfect.

I wanted it to look pretty and nice and I think we achieved that. TBH it doesn't really scream "nursery". Take out the cot and change table and it's a spare room. But it looks nice and pulled together.

I can understand a designer wanting a kickass nursery! Design is your thing, part of your being. Good luck with it!

I don't feel any pressure. I want it to be practical and affordable, with a few special touches here and there. We plan on having the baby sleep in a bassinet beside our bed for the first few weeks/months and so I don't feel the immediate need to have it all done right away (although I should because we won't have time when she's here).

I'm not even pregnant yet and I'm planning the perfect nursery. It's a huge deal to me, and our baby probably won't even sleep in it for months because we plan on co-sleeping!
So yes, I totally get it, even if I don't understand it.

I love to decorate, so I just did what I wanted and tried to keep it as inexpensive as possible. I think it helped me to keep in mind that I was really doing it to satisfy my own nesting urge, and the baby wouldn't care. I wish I would have included a couple more personal touches, but I ran out of time. Oh well!

I'm not a designer, but I do feel like I need to have a creative/unique nursery because it's what people expect from me. I have never been one to follow the grain & don't necessary want to for this either. Especially for a girl, I'm not a fan of pink so I need to some how eliminate that color from the room! Could be difficult for a girl.

@blushink: As long as you enjoy it! You must, since you design for a living. I wouldn't worry so much about everything having to be unique ... the blessing and the curse of the Internet age is that someone out there has done just about everything already. Just go for what you love, other people be damned

We definitely did not feel pressure for DS's nursery. It was our first shot at painting since we'd just bought our first house, and there are still touch ups that need to be done. The furniture is all mismatched, and because we and DS don't spend time in there, except for diaper changes and sleeping, we don't even care. I love the paint color we picked and I love his nursery, but I still need to refinish his dresser (I was already pregnant when we got it, so we used it as-is). We picked out cute sheets, but didn't get a bedding set. The floor is bare hardwood without any cute rugs or anything right now. I do plan to refinish the dresser this summer, get a rug for the floor, and eventually will touch up the paint.

Personally I don't get the pressure for it all to be perfect, but then I'm not a designer or a type-A personality. I'm all about simple, efficient function, not pretty decorative touches.

No- we set pretty low standards in our house for style (sorry, that probably kills a designer to hear that!). We are very eclectic and relaxed- I picked various shades of browns, greens, and blues since it was so easy. We have a jungle/zoo meets Star Wars theme.

I actually think that the internet has made it way easier for me to come up with a nice looking room. It is a great place for ideas and to order hard to find things.

Our other issue is making the room functional- my husband's desk and my desk/craft corner are both in the nursery too.

@stiffaknee: You can always dye them a different color- I did that with a few of our things since I am not a big fan of white. It was really easy!

I don't feel like I have to because of any external pressures, but I really want to for selfish reasons. I just want it to be pinned, what can I say?

@winniebee: cool. I am so ready to start decorating! We pick up the crib/changer this weekend, so I am ready to decorate. And I do feel pressure to make it kickass.
