Most of all, I feel like I underestimated how hard it was to be a parent! That said, I do feel like I better understand why they were willing to make so many sacrifices for us kids. 
I don't feel I understand them more, but I definitely love them more!

Absolutely! My mom would always say "I'm your mother" whenever we would have an argument and she felt I didnt appreciate her especially as a teenager and I would roll my eyes and think "I know your mother, so what?" although i never dared to say it, but now I already feel like that towards my daughter. When she wont do what I want I say to her "I'm you mother I know whats best for you" I totally look at my mom differently now

I understood my parents a lot more as I got older, but now that I'm a mom, I have a greater appreciation for them.

I think I have a lot more sympathy for my parents. Being a parent is not easy, especially as you start adding more children! And with five girls to raise, my parents did not have it easy...

Lately I've been understanding my parents and the decisions they have made less and less. Maybe once the baby is born the tide will turn...
