I obsessively read about journalism... random stuff like Romenesko, Mediagazer, Street Fight, Nieman Labs, etc. etc. I am working on a project to build local online newspapers, and so I just find it interesting. I have been obsessed with newspapers ever since I became a paperboy in elementary school!
I also read a lot of tech and digital media stuff, since that's my profession.

I really should follow digital trends but I don't. I kind of rely on the web developers I work with to stay on top of those. I don't need to follow the art world because I sit in PR (for some weird reason) and I overhear their conversations all the time! They read every paper every day though... and many many magazines.

Maybe its just me, but I work in finance and I definitely DON'T want to read anything about it when I'm not at work. I've gotten to the point where my brain stops thinking about work the second I step onto the elevator!

Anything health care related... but my true passion is to follow the day to day in the political realm. Frequently I know the gory details of a bill in another state that might have national consequences.
I mean how fun is it to hear a state house member say "vagina"? (Brown in Michigan for those who are following!)

I'm a hospital social worker, so I follow healthcare-related news (esp changes in insurance and reimbursement). I loosely follow economics because the crappier the economy, the more un- and under-insured patients I'm going to see. And I loosely follow advancements in medical care, since I'm kind of in the field and it's always interested me, anyway.

Yep -- media still (used to be a media lawyer) and even media law, still. Also marketing, blogging, and some of the techier sides of what I do (SEO, the affiliate industry, etc). I use Netvibes to keep up with everything -- except for the ones that post way too often (like SearchEngineLand or LIfehacker) -- those I have sent to my Facebook stream since they generally only send an edited stream there. Twitter is like a black hole for me -- I can't go in too often because I don't come out for hours.
