we don't! there's a curfew that limits t/ting to 8pm.... the last 3 years we've been here, we've ALWAYS had tons of candy left over. I think we only had about 10 kids come by last year
def not the way it used to be when dh and i were kids!

We do! A lot of people like to park and walk around. Last year, we didn't pass out candy because Hubby had to leave the next day and I wanted to just spend time with him.

Not at all. I was so excited last year, being the first year in our house (we were on a 2nd story condo before and NEVER had a t-o-t). Last year I bought 6 bags of candy and we STILL have some leftover! I just keep it out and give friends a handful every-time people come over! I think 1 or 2 bags will suffice this year.

Last year was our first year in our home and we had none I was so sad... I'd carved cute little pumpkins and everything. Fortunately I was able to console myself over an enormous bowl of candy!

We get lots of trick or treaters, but we've only passed out candy once. HAHA. Last year we kept our porch lights off.
Running down the stairs EVERY time the door bell rings got old fast, plus didn't want people coming to our door with a sleeping baby in the house!

Nope. It makes DH sad but what can ya do! Definitely not the same as when I was a kid. When we were kids starting st 5 the streets were full of trick or treaters you couldn't even shut the door before more kids came. These days we are lucky if we get 5 doorbell rings and its not family.

Not as many as when I was growing up but still a fair amount! The local churches put on a bunch of trick or treat type events thatare safer for kids and easy for parents, so I think we lose a lot because of that

@highwire: Ya our church puts on a trunk or treat, but I always love trick or treating. I wish I could still go.

I hope we get a lot this year! There's a good number of kids in our neighborhood, so I think we will. We're going to dress up our dog.

No, I wish we did!! We live in a newer neighborhood without many kids. I bought several bags of candy last year but only had like 10 TOTs So bummed.
Our neighborhood is continuing to grow though, so perhaps this year will have a better showing!

Last year was our "first" Halloween together in our place. We bought bags and bags of candy thinking we'd have bajillions of trick-or-treaters (we're in a neighborhood where you'd think there'd be a bunch...). Not. One. I was eating candy for weeks...

Do the people that don't get a lot of trick or treaters live in rural areas? Or do you all just have trunk or treating?
pomegranate / 3983 posts
We do, just the kids from inside our gated community, but most of the houses have kids. so yes.

Tons. I usually have over 300 pieces of candy and run out before 8. There are a bunch of houses on our street that decorate. People come and drive to our street to go trick or treating.

we have about 200 kids come through our neighborhood. We just sit out in the garage and have a few adult beverages with our neighbours.

None whatsoever! In the 3 years I've lived in Sweden, I've never seen a trick-or-treater! But I have seen drunk high school students in costume.

We got about 80 kids last year. It was so much fun passing out candy but I'm not sure if we'll be doing that again this year or if we'll head out to a friend's house with LO.
